Faride Alidou

Age: 20
Club: Hamburg
Position: Winger
Country: Germany (Two U20 caps/one goal)

Key Stats

Born in Hamburg to Togolese parents, Alidou joined the Hamburg academy at the age of 11 in 2012. He scored seven goals in 11 matches for the U17 team in 2017/18, the same season his local club were relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time. While Hamburg failed to gain promotion in the years that followed, their exciting young winger had two good campaigns for the U19 team before becoming a regular with the reserves. The 6'1" winger then made his debut for the first team when he came on as a substitute in the 1-1 Bundesliga 2 draw with Fortuna Düsseldorf in October 2021.

Watch: Alidou's first goal for Hamburg

Alidou got his first goal for the club by racing through to fire home right-footed in a 4-1 victory over Jahn Regensburg in November 2021. Heading into 2022, the number 48 had registered two goals, two assists, and seven starts in nine Bundesliga 2 appearances. Alidou - who clocked a top speed of over 21 miles per hour - then scored on his debut for the Germany U20 team in a 1-1 draw with France in November 2021.

Plays a bit like: Dodi Lukebakio

A right-footed player who often operates on the left side of a front three, Alidou could bring to mind an inverted winger like Bayern Munich legend Arjen Robben. There are shades of current Bayern star Leroy Sane in his game too, but - as a direct, long-legged, and quick player standing over six feet tall - perhaps he most resembles Wolfsburg attacker Dodi Lukebakio in his style of play. Like Lukebakio did, Alidou will be looking to add more goals to his game the longer his career goes on.

Alidou has the potential to add goals to his game in the way Wolfsburg winger Dodi Lukebakio did at Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hertha Berlin.

Did you know?

Alidou was a fan of plenty of exciting attackers growing up, but he cites Eden Hazard, Robinho and Ronaldinho as three he most liked watching.

What they're saying

"He impresses through the freedom he plays with - he's also a strong dribbler and has good pace." – Hamburg sporting director Michael Mutzel

"He always stood out for his speed and his one-on-one ability in attack. Now he is more of a goal threat and more efficient." – Current Hamburg reserve-team coach and former youth team boss Pit Reimers
