Hannover made it three wins out of three to move top of the table while Schalke took the spoils against Bochum on Matchday 3 of the Bundesliga 2 campaign.

Schalke 2-1 Bochum
Goals: 0-1 Holtmann (65‘), 1-1 Kuruçay (76‘), 2-1 Lasme (79‘)

Schalke made it two wins from three with a comeback win over local rivals Bochum. A combative first half saw both Loris Karius and Timo Horn each make several saves for their respective sides to keep it goalless at the break. Bochum took the lead with a clinical finish from Gerrit Holtmann early on in the second half, but Schalke responded quickly. Substitute Finn Porath’s strike deflected off Hasan Kuruçay to level the scores, before Bryan Lasme completed the turnaround with an emphatic strike.

Hannover 3-1 Magdeburg
Goals: 1-0
Matsuda (17’), 2-0 Okon (43’), 2-1 Kaars (63‘), 3-1 Källman (90‘+3)

Hannover maintained their perfect start to life under Christian Titz with a win over the side he led for four years prior to this summer. Hayate Matsuda and Ime Okon both scored their first senior goals for the club in the first half, after Martijn Kaars had missed a free header at the far post for the visitors. The Dutchman was at the centre of attention in the second period, initially missing a penalty awarded for handball against Okon before putting away the rebound following Nahuel Noll’s save. The visitors enjoyed much of the play and chances but without finding another way through. Hannover finally put the game to bed and kept up their 100 percent record when Benjamin Källman tapped in a low cross in added time.

Paderborn 1-2 Fortuna Düsseldorf
Goals: 0-1 Itten 35’, 0-2 Muslija 42’, 1-2 Bätzner 84’
Red card: Scheller 12’

Düsseldorf secured their first league win of the season as Paderborn were reduced to 10 men early on. Fortuna made the most of the man advantage, scoring twice before the break through Cedric Itten and Florent Muslija. Paderborn pulled a goal back late on with Nick Bätzner, but couldn't find an equaliser as they slipped to a first loss of the campaign.

Karlsruhe 2-0 Eintracht Braunschweig
Goals: 1-0 Šimić 16’, 2-0 Schleusener 57'
Red card: Breunig 90+2’

In a feisty encounter, Karlsruhe came out 2-0 winners thanks to goals either side of half-time from Roko Šimić and Fabian Schleusener. Louis Breunig received a red card late on for Braunschweig to add insult to injury. The hosts remain unbeaten with seven points from their opening three fixtures.

Preußen Münster 2-1 Nuremberg
Goals: 1-0 Batista Meier 32’, 2-0 Schulz 42’, 2-1 Lubach 74’

Preußen Münster claimed their first league victory of the campaign as first-half goals from Oliver Batista Meier and Marvin Schulz earned them a deserved win over Nuremberg. After a cautious opening, the home side began to grow in confidence and took the lead when Batista Meier found the bottom corner with a powerful right-footed strike from the edge of the box. It was 2-0 ten minutes later, Schulz calmly lifting the ball over goalkeeper Jan Reichert to give Münster a comfortable half-time cushion. The visitors were much better after the restart, but could not find a way past Johannes Schenk until Rafael Lubach found the net with a low finish with a quarter of an hour remaining. Miroslav Klose’s side threw caution to the wind late on, but Münster held on relatively comfortably to condemn Der Club to a third straight league defeat.

Elversberg 2-1 Kaiserslautern
Goals: 1-0 Schnellbacher 43', 1-1 Tachie 79' (pen.), 2-1 Schmahl 90'+2

Elversberg made it two wins from three to start the season, thanks to Frederik Schmahl's last-gasp effort against Kaiserslautern. A slow start from the visitors was compounded by an injury to summer signing Simon Asta, who felt the effects of an awkward challenge from Tom Zimmerschied. Luca Schnellbacher then gave the hosts the lead shortly before the break, and their dominance continued into the second half, with 'Lautern offering little response. Elversberg’s Nicolas Kristof gave them a lifeline when he punched through Faride Alidou rather than the ball from a cross, and substitute Richmond Tachie coolly converted the subsequent penalty to level. There was time for one final twist, though, as Schmahl nodded in a winner from a corner in added time.

Greuther Fürth 0-2 Holstein Kiel
Goals: 0-1 Therkelsen 31', 0-2 Tolkin 90'+5

Kiel secured their first victory of the season with a clean-sheet win at Fürth. The hosts were almost in front within five minutes as Mathias Olesen volleyed narrowly over the bar from distance but, after David Zec had missed a gilt-edged chance at the other end, Jonas Therkelsen gave the visitors the lead after rounding Pelle Boevnik. Kiel had chances to put the game to bed in the second half, ultimately doing so through John Tolkin in the last minute after Boevnik had gone forward for a free-kick. The result means the Clover-leaves have lost each of their past two Bundesliga 2 matches.

Arminia Bielefeld 1-2 Dynamo Dresden
Goals: 0-1 Hauptmann 21', 1-1 Grodowski 57', 1-2 Herrmann 90'+10
Red cards: Lannert 74'

Dresden clinched a dramatic first victory of the campaign over Bielefeld in a battle between the two newly-promoted sides. Niklas Hauptmann gave his side the lead midway through the first half but, after dominating from that point on, Bielefeld equalised through Joel Grodowski shortly before the hour mark. While they continued to push on, Christopher Lannert's red card for hauling down Hauptmann as the last man swung the game back in Dresden's favour. After exerting plenty of pressure, Luca Herrmann's stunning overhead kick in the 10th minute of injury time snatched the points for the away team.

Darmstadt 0-0 Hertha Berlin

Darmstadt’s winning start to the season came to an end at the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor as Hertha claimed a deserved point. The visitors started on the back foot but grew in confidence as the first half progressed, as Bayern Munich loanee Maurice Krattenmacher rattled the left-hand post from the edge of the box moments later. Darmstadt also struck the woodwork through Aleksandar Vukotić while Tjark Ernst produced a magnificent stop to prevent Killian Corredor's late second-half header from nestling in the far corner. Despite the battle for a point, Hertha are still without a win in all competitions this term.
