Fortuna Düsseldorf 3-1 Karlsruhe
Goals: 0-1 Schleusener 3', 1-1 Engelhardt 14', 2-1 Tzolis 55', 3-1 Wanitzek o.g. 57'
Dusseldorf came from behind to earn a third victory of the campaign on Friday night, a win that took them to the summit at the final whistle. That looked fairly improbable when Fabian Schleusener gave the visitors a third-minute lead, but efforts from Yannik Engelhardt and Christos Tzolis gave the home side the lead before a Marvin Wanitzek own-goal sealed the points.
Eintracht Braunschweig 1-1 St. Pauli
Goals: 0-1 Saad 59', 1-1 Helgason 80'
Both teams had to settle for a point apiece in Braunschweig as they traded second-half goals in a 1-1 draw. Elias Saad broke the deadlock on the hour mark with his second league goal of the season and it appeared to be the winner for the visitors, until the hosts found their way level with 10 minutes to play. Thorir Johann Helgason was the man who grabbed the goal to cap his debut in fine fashion.
Holstein Kiel 2-1 Paderborn
Goals: 0-1 Leipertz 12', 1-1 Rothe 31', 2-1 Skrzybski 61'
A Steven Skrzybski wonder-strike sealed all three points for Kiel on Saturday, despite Paderborn going in front early on. Robert Leipertz gave the away side the adavantage just 12 minutes in, but Tom Rothe equalised on the half hour mark to make sure things were level at the break. It was just after an hour that Skrzybksi settled things, the Kiel man catching Jannik Huth off guard with a wonderful effort from just inside the Paderborn half. It was a stunning goal and as worthy a match-winner as you're likely to see.
Magdeburg 6-4 Hertha Berlin
Goals 0-1 Reese 2', 1-1 Gnaka 7', 1-2 Winkler 22', 2-2 Schuler 37', 2-3 Tabakovic 43', 3-3 Ceka 49', 3-4 Tabakovic 55', 4-4 Bell Bell 58', 5-4 El Hankouri 68', 6-4 Arslan 90+3'
Magdeburg got the better of a 10-goal thriller against Hertha on Saturday, despite the visitors leading on four separate occasions. Fabian Reese gave Hertha the perfect start after just two minutes, but Silas Gnaka soon brought the home side level - a trend that would continue for the majority of the game from there on out. Hertha went on to lead 2-1, 3-2 and 4-3, before the tide finally turned when Leon Bell Bell made it 4-4 within an hour of play. Magdeburg then claimed the three points thanks to goals from Mo El Hankouri and Ahmet Arslan, sealing a memorable victory for the hosts on what proved to be a miserable day for Hertha.
Wehen Wiesbaden 1-1 Schalke
Goals: 0-1 Mohr 54', 1-1 Reinthaler 90'+5
Schalke were denied a second win of the season in injury time at promoted Wehen Wiesbaden, whose strong start to the campaign continued. The points seemed to be Schalke's as they took their slender lead, courtesy of Tobias Mohr's 54th-minute opener, to the death, but Wiesbaden had other ideas. Max Reinthaler was the hero, popping up with the equaliser in the 95th minute to earn his side a share of the spoils.
Kaiserslautern 3-1 Nuremberg
Goals: 1-0 Tachie 19', 2-0 Puchacz 26', 3-0 Ache 30', 3-1 Schleimer 37'
Red card: Mathenia 88'
Kaiserslautern recorded their their straight win, thanks to a first-half blitz against Nuremberg. Richmond Tachie, Tymoteusz Puchacz and Ragnar Ache put the Red Devils 3-0 up by the 30th minute, before Lukas Schleimer pulled one back for the visitors. The woodwork denied Nuremberg's Kanji Okunuki, who wasn't far off again early in the second half. More drama was to come after Christian Mathenia brilliantly thwarted Ache his second goal of the game, with the VAR intervening to chalk off efforts from Okunuki and teammate Christoph Daferner. Mathenia's sending off for a professional foul on Terrence Boyd was the final meaningful act of a high-octane contest.
Hamburg 2-0 Hansa Rostock
Goals: 1-0 Reis 45'+5, 2-0 Benes 48'
Hamburg kept up their undefeated start to the season with a 2-0 win over Hansa Rostock. Ludovit Reis got the Red Shorts off the mark deep into first-half injury time at the Volksparkstadion, and Laszlo Benes doubled their advantage three minutes after the restart. HSV are now top of the pile with four wins and a draw from five games played.
Greuther Fürth 1-3 Hannover
Goals: 0-1 Tresoldi 15', 0-2 Köhn, 1-2 Green 50', 1-3 Halstenberg 57'
Hannover were Hamburg's 1-0 victims last Saturday, but they got back to winning ways away to Greuther Fürth. Nicolo Tresoldi got the opener for the Die Roten before teeing up Derrick Köhn for the second. Former USMNT forward Julian Green pulled one back but Marcel Halstenberg had the final say with his first league goal since arriving from RB Leipzig.
Osnabrück 0-1 Elversberg
Goals: 0-1 Faghir 79'
Osnabrück remain rooted to the foot of the table and without a win in five after suffering a 1-0 loss to last season's 3. Liga winners Elversberg, who got their first win of the campaign. VfB Stuttgart-owned striker Wahid Faghir got the only goal of the game and his second of the season thanks to a debut Paul Wanner assist on loan from Bayern Munich as Elversberg pulled out of the relegation places.
