Matchday 8 results
Magdeburg 0-4 Elversberg
Goals: 0-1 Conté 23', 0-2 Zimmerschied 45', 0-3 Stange 74', 0-4 Malanga 80'
Elversberg secured their fourth win in five games in some style, putting four past rock-bottom Magdeburg. Bambasé Conté was a threat throughout and opened the scoring, before Tom Zimmerschied doubled the lead just before the break. A toothless Magdeburg side looked helpless as they conceded two more before the end to give Elversberg the points and send them to the top of the table.
Bielefeld 1-2 SchalkeGoals: 0-1 Antwi-Adjei 11’, 0-2 Kuruçay 18’, 1-2 Großer 48’
Schalke’s strong start to the season continued as two first-half goals proved enough to overcome promoted Arminia Bielefeld. Christopher Antwi-Adjei pounced on a loose pass from Jonas Kerksen to open the scoring, before Hasan Kuruçay added a second a few minutes later. Maximilian Großer pulled one back after the break, but in the end, Bielefeld couldn’t do enough to breakdown the Schalke defence a second time.
Kaiserslautern 3-2 Bochum
Goals: 1-0 Prtajin (7’), 1-1 Holtmann (15’), 2-1 Prtajin (79’), 3-1 Joly (86’), 3-2 Elvedi og. (90’+4)
New Bochum coach Uwe Rösler watched from the stands on as his side suffered a sixth straight defeat. Kaiserslautern went ahead early through Ivan Prtajin, but Gerrit Holtmann struck back quickly in a lively opening period. A string of saves from Timo Horn kept things level until Prtajin ran clear and got a second. Paul Joly then made sure of 'Lautern’s fifth win of the season, with Jan Elvedi’s own goal in added time just a consolation for the struggling visitors.
Holstein Kiel 1-1 Darmstadt
Goals: 0-1 Lidberg (54‘), 1-1 Zec (66‘)
Pre-weekend leaders Darmstadt's three-game winning run ended in a draw at Holstein Kiel. Marcel Rapp’s side dominated for large portions of the game, but it was the visitors who took the lead through an Isac Lidberg rocket in the second half. David Zec equalised for the Storks not long after, with an equally impressive effort from distance, but Kiel may well rue missed opportunities, having registered 23 shots on goal in total.
Greuther Fürth 2-2 Hannover
Goals: 0-1 Källman 6', 1-1 Futkeu 24', 1-2 Matsuda 61', 2-2 Abrangao 83'
Christian Titz's Hannover lost the lead twice against Fürth to give them a share of the spoils in this four-goal thriller. Striker Benjamin Källman struck for Hannover after six minutes and the hosts took their time but responded with an equaliser from Noel Futkeu. The hosts grew into the game taking advantage of the mistakes from the 96ers, but they would strike again close to the hour mark from Hayate Matsuda. After Titz's side squandered chances to score the third, Fürth punished them once again with a first goal at the professional level for David Abrangao.
Dynamo Dresden 3-3 Karlsruhe
Goals: 1-0 Fröling 8’, 1-1 Beifus 11’, 1-2 Egloff 37’, 2-2 Daferner 52’, 2-3 Schleusener 61’, 3-3 Lemmer 90’+2
Jakob Lemmer’s stoppage-time strike rescued a point for struggling Dynamo Dresden in a six-goal thriller with in-form Karlsruhe. The home side had taken the lead through Nils Fröling’s powerful drive, but Marcel Beifus’ looping header restored parity three minutes later. Lilian Egloff’s low finish completed the turnaround before the interval, only for Christoph Daferner to make it 2-2 from Joans Oehmichen’s low cross early in the second half. Fabian Schleusener’s outside-of-the-boot finish restored Karlsruhe’s lead nine minutes later, and the visitors appeared to be holding on for all three points until second-half added time, when Lemmer slotted Christoph Kobold’s attempted clearance into the corner to salvage a share of the spoils for the hosts.
Hertha Berlin 2-1 Preußen Münster
Goals: 1-0 Grönning (34‘), 2-0 Grönning (52‘), 2-1 Amenyido (84')
Following a 3-0 downing of Nuremberg last week, Hertha welcomed Preußen, who themselves were hoping to build on last week's victory. After Fabian Reese’s stunning strike was disallowed early on for offside, it was Sebastian Grönning who scored his side’s first home goal of the season. He added a second not long after half-time and could have even made it a hat-trick. Preußen mounted a late fight back, however, halving the deficit through Etienne Amenyido Amenyido, but it was too little, too late.
Fortuna Düsseldorf 2-3 Nuremberg
Goals: 0-1 Lubach 25’, 1-1 El Azzouzi 67’, 1-2 Justvan pen. 80’, 2-2 Rasmussen 83’, 2-3 Becker 85’
Düsseldorf's wait for a home win goes on after Finn Becker's late strike earned Nuremberg all three points. The took a deserved lead when Rafael Lubach rifled an unstoppable shot past Florian Kastenmeier. Anouar El Azzouzi slotted home Danny Schmidt’s flick-on to equalise midway through the second half, only for Julian Justvan to fire Nuremberg back in front from the penalty spot with 10 minutes remaining. Düsseldorf thought they had salvaged a point when Christian Rasmussen prodded home from close range with seven minutes left on the clock, but Becker’s thunderous finish two minutes later earned Miroslav Klose’s side only their second win of the campaign and spelled the end for Daniel Thioune at Düsseldorf.
Eintracht Braunschweig 1-2 Paderborn
Goals: 0-1 Bilbija, 1-1 Szabó 86', 1-2 Marino 88'
Paderborn moved top, overnight at least, after overcoming an Eintracht Braunschweig team without a league win since Matchday 2. Filip Bilbija scored inside 60 seconds to get the visitors off to the perfect start, the German forward with his fourth goals in three games. Santiago Castaneda had a goal ruled out for offside early in the second half as Paderborn continued to dominate, only for Braunschweig substitute Levente Szabó to level against the run of play with four minutes to go. There was still time for one final twist, though, as substitute Stefano Marino finished with aplomb to secure Paderdorn a fourth successive, and very much deserved, win.
