Moussa Sylla scored twice in Schalke's win over Hannover.

Uwe Rösler led Bochum to all three points in his first game as coach, after Schalke picked up an important win over promotion rivals Hannover in the standout Bundesliga 2 fixture of the weekend...

Hannover 0-3 Schalke
Goals: 0-1 Sylla 3', 0-2 Sylla 14', 0-3 Gomis 85'

Schalke recorded their fourth successive Bundesliga 2 victory and maintained their promotion bid with a convincing win at Hannover. The Royal Blues flew out of the blocks, with Moussa Sylla finding the back of the net twice in the opening 20 minutes. Hannover pushed forward in response and had two goals ruled out for offside, before Christian Gomis secured the points late on.

Elversberg 6–0 Greuther FürthGoals: 1-0 Conte 27’, 2-0 Ebnoutalib 48‘, 3-0 Ebnoutalib 56’, 4-0 Ebnoutalib 80‘, 5-0 Ceka 85‘, 6-0 Le Joncour 90+3‘

Elversberg maintained their lead at the top of Bundesliga 2 as they trounced Fürth on home turf. The opening exchanges saw the hosts dominate without being able to punish the visitors, before Bambasé Conté’s brilliant finish from the edge of the box gave them a deserved lead. They continued to overwhelm Fürth after that goal, and went into the break well on top. After the break, Younes Ebnoutalib’s composed brace within 10 minutes put his side in cruise control before he sealed his hat-trick later on. Substitute Jason Ceka and Florian Le Joncour then knocked in two more to cap off a ruthless display from the hosts.

Fortuna Düsseldorf 1-2 Eintracht Braunschweig
Goals: 0-1 Conteh 25, 0-2 Marie 39', 1-2 Schmidt 65'

Markus Anfang's reign as Fortuna Düsseldorf head coach started with a narrow home defeat against lowly Eintracht Braunschweig. The visitors' attacking duo of Sirlord Conteh and Max Marie caused Fortuna all sorts of problems, with the duo registering a goal and an assist apiece before the interval. Düsseldorf were able to pull one back in the second half through Kenneth Schmidt, but despite their late pressure, they departed empty-handed.

Paderborn 4-3 Arminia Bielefeld
Goals: 0-1 Grodowski 16' (pen.), 1-1 Baur 26, 1-2 Momuluh 29', 2-2 Tigges 50', 3-2 Bilbija 55' (pen.), 4-2 Tigges 62', 4-3 Handwerker 73' (pen.)

Paderborn extended their winning Bundesliga 2 run to five matches with an enthralling victory over mid-table Bielefeld. Joel Grodowski did give the visitors the lead from the spot before Mika Baur equalised, and Monju Momuluh restored his side's lead before the half-hour mark. However, a 12-minute blitz at the start of the second period, including a brace from Steffen Tigges and a Filip Bilbija spot-kick, put Paderborn in the ascendancy. Tim Handwerker did pull one back with another penalty, but it was not enough to deny the hosts all three points.

Karlsruhe 2-3 Kaiserslautern
Goals: 0-1 Prtajin 11’, 0-2 Skyttä 54‘, 1-2 Schleusener 58‘, 2-2 Egloff 83‘, 2-3 Ritter 90‘+3

Karlsruhe welcomed Kaiserslautern to the Wildparkstadion for another feisty instalment of the south-west derby. The visitors started strongly, taking the lead swiftly through Ivan Prtajin. The Red Devils doubled their advantage through Naatan Skyttä not long after the restart. Karlsruhe were down but not out, as Fabian Schleusener kickstarted the comeback, which Lilian Egloff built upon late on to bring them level. However, captain Marlon Ritter came off the bench to grab a dramatic late winner for Kaiserslautern, stunning the home crowd and securing the three points.

Bochum 3-2 HerthaGoals: 1-0 Karbownik 13’ (o.g.), 2-0 Onyeka 32’, 3-0 Onyeka 60’, 3-1 Schuler 72’, 3-2 Reese pen. 80’
Bochum ended their six-game losing run with a hard-fought victory over Hertha. The hosts led 3-0 after an hour, thanks to a Michal Karbownik own goal and a Francis Onyeka double. Then the nerves set in when Luca Schuler and Fabian Reese scored to make it 3-2 after 80 minutes, but fortunately for the hosts, they were able to hold out for their second win of the season to make for a great start for new coach Uwe Rösler.

Preußen Münster 2-2 Dynamo Dresden
Goals: 0-1 Rossipal 23’, 1-1 Hendrix 51’, 1-2 Bünning 70’, 2-2 Bünning 85’ (og.)
Red card: Kutschke 90’+8

Dresden are now without a win in six after they were twice pegged back by Münster. The visitors went ahead through Alexander Rossipal’s free-kick into the top corner before Preußen captain Jorrit Hendrix volleyed his side back level early in the second half. Lars Bünning headed Dynamo back into the lead from a floated free-kick but was then involved at the wrong end as a Luca Bolay shot came back off the post and hit the defender to knock the ball into his own net.

Nuremberg 1-1 Holstein Kiel
Goals: 1-0 Zoma 28', 1-1 Johansson 86'

Holstein Kiel's late equaliser denied Nuremberg a third win in their past four Bundesliga 2 matches to keep Der Club just two points clear of the bottom three. Miroslav Klose's side were the more dangerous, with Mohammed Ali Zoma particularly threatening. The 21-year-old did score the opener, but had two further chances to extend his side's lead further, missing a gilt-edged chance after hitting the crossbar. Ultimately, Kiel made Nuremberg pay for their lack of clinical edge as Carl Johansson headed home an equaliser late on.

Darmstadt 0-0 Magdeburg
Red cards: López 82'

Darmstadt missed the chance to move into the Bundesliga 2 automatic promotion places as they were held to a goalless draw by rock-bottom Magdeburg. The hosts did have the better opportunities in what was a game lacking in clear chances, but they were unable to exert any sustained pressure. Sergio López was sent off for Darmstadt in the final 10 minutes, yet Magdeburg - who now have four points from their opening nine matches of the campaign in the league - could not take advantage.
