Simon Terodde became the outright top goalscorer in Bundesliga 2 history when he put Schalke ahead at Werder Bremen, only for Niklas Füllkrug to convert a late penalty to give the hosts a share of the spoils in a dramatic 1-1 draw.
Werder Bremen 1-1 Schalke

The battle between former Bundesliga clubs Bremen and Schalke began like a showdown of heavyweights, with neither side willing to give an inch. The visitors in blue had perhaps their best chance early when Terodde floated a ball just wide of the upright, continuing his wait to become the outright highest scorer in Bundesliga 2 history. Werder, on the other hand, thought they had drawn first blood through Füllkrug, only for Gudlaugar Palsson to clear the ball off the line. Neither team had been able to land a blow before the half-time whistle sounded.
When the sides returned to the pitch, the exchange resumed as it had ended. Bremen, urged on by a full Weserstadion, pushed for an opener and shut down any way towards goal for Schalke and Terodde. The home side had the lion’s share of possession, but could not find a way to break down the determined visitors. With ten minutes remaining to play, the Royal Blues fought their way up the pitch where Rodrigo Salazar fired a long-range shot on goal that Jiri Pavlenka couldn’t hold. He parried the ball directly into the path of Terodde, who got his head to it and wrote his name into the record books with his 154th Bundesliga 2 goal of his career. It looked as though that would be all the drama on the night, but Schalke substitute Henning Matriciani conceded penalty deep into added time, which Füllkrug put away nine minutes beyond the original 90 to ensure it ended all square. Schalke remain three points above the team who were relegated with them from the Bundesliga last season, but only one position better off.

Hannover 0-0 Paderborn
Red card: Börner (69')
Hannover's winless streak extended to seven games as they were held to a goalless draw at home to Paderborn. Their hopes of ending that wait were dashed midway through the second half when Julian Börner was shown a red card for a professional foul on the edge of the penalty area. It could have been worse for the Lower Saxony side, though, but the post came to their rescue to deny Julian Justvan. Justvan hit the post again soon after, but Paderborn could not find a winner against their ten-man hosts.
Sandhausen 1-2 Nuremberg
Goals: 1-0 Höhn (66'), 1-1 Nürnberger (83'), 1-1 Shuranov (90'+3)
Nuremberg came from behind to snatch victory with the last kick of the game at Sandhausen. Immanuel Höhn gave Sandhausen a spectacular lead with a low drive from long range into the bottom corner of Christian Mathenia's goal. The guests responded immediately with a more attack-minded approach, but it was not until seven minutes from time that they drew level when another long-range effort found the back of the net, this time with Nürnberger on target. More was to come for the guests with substitute Erik Shuranov scrambling the ball home amid a goalmouth scramble to snap Nuremberg's run of two back-to-back defeats.
Hamburg 4-1 Jahn Regensburg
Goals: 1-0 Reis (31'), 1-1 Beste (33'), 2-1 Alidou (45'), 3-1 Kittel (pen. 65'), 4-1 Suhonen (87')
In Hamburg, HSV saw off a Jahn Regensburg side who were sitting second at the start of play with an emphatic 4-1 win. Ludovit Reis put the hosts in front, but Jan Niklas Beste's long-range effort brought the Bavarians level almost immediately. Bakery Jatta had a goal ruled out for offside, but Faride Alidou's first goal in Bundesliga 2 gave Hamburg a half-time advantage. Sonny Kittel increased Hamburg's lead, converting a penalty he had earned, before Anssi Suhonen put the result beyond any doubt as HSV climbed to within three points of the summit.

Hansa Rostock 1-2 Erzgebirge Aue
Goals: 0-1 Kühn (19'), 1-1 Verhoek (pen. 37'), 1-2 Jonjic (66')
Still in the north of Germany, Hansa Rostock stumbled at home to Aue, who picked up three important points on the Baltic coast. Hanno Behrens was denied by the post as Rostock nearly raced into an early lead, but it was the guests who drew first blood when Nicolas Kühn struck. John Verhoek brought Hansa level from the penalty spot, but a Kevin Schumacher goal which would have put them in front was chalked off for offside. Antonio Jonjic then scored the decisive second goal for Aue midway through the second half, earning them a victory which takes them to within three points of their hosts.
Darmstadt 4-0 St Pauli
Goals: 1-0 Tietz (6'), 2-0 Manu (29'), 3-0 Pfeiffer (39'), 4-0 Pfeiffer (41')
St Pauli travelled to the Böllenfalltor as league leaders, but they were knocked off their perch within the space of 45 minutes by a Darmstadt side who took command of Bundesliga 2 with an impressive 4-0 win. Phillip Tietz opened the scoring after just six minutes, turning in Luca Pfeiffer's free-kick. Braydon Manu added a second on the half-hour mark and Pfeiffer scored two more in as many minutes to put the result beyond doubt come half-time. A stunned St Pauli could not summon a response, despite emerging from the dressing room with four new players, as Darmstadt replaced their rivals at the top of the table.
Dynamo Dresden 1-0 Fortuna Düsseldorf
Goals: 1-0 Daferner (pen. 43')
Dynamo Dresden ended a five-match losing streak with victory over Fortuna Düsseldorf. Christoph Daferner found the side netting with the game's first chance of note, before Rouwen Hennings returned fire for the visitors. The breakthrough came late in the first half when Christoph Klarer fouled Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer in the box, and Daferner dispatched the ensuing penalty. Dynamo's top scorer passed up the chance to add a second, but neither Khaled Narey nor Robert Bozenik could do any better at the other end as the hosts moved two points clear of the relegation play-off spot and level with Düsseldorf in the standings.
Heidenheim 2-1 Holstein Kiel
Goals: 1-0 Kühlwetter (1'), 1-1 Bartels (30'), 2-1 Leipertz (85')
Heidenheim climbed to within four points of the promotion places thanks to substitute Robert Leipertz's stunning late winner against relegation-threatened Holstein Kiel. Christian Kühlwetter scored inside 60 seconds to give the hosts the lead, but were punished for not making the most of further chances as Kiel hit back through Fin Bartels with half-an-hour on the clock. Alexander Mühling forced Heidenheim captain Patrick Mainka into a goal-line clearance early in the second half, but Kiel were on the backfoot for the remainder. Not long after Heidenheim substitute Stefan Schimmer drew a flying save from Thomas Dähne, the pressure told as Leipertz thundered in a quite brilliant long-range goal.
Ingolstadt 1-1 Karlsruhe
Goals: 1-0 Kobald (o.g. 27'), 1-1 Kother (42')
Ingolstadt remain rooted to the foot of the table, despite snapping a five-match losnig streak in a 1-1 draw with Karlsruhe. Maximilian Beister shot over with a minute on the clock as the hosts flew out of the traps, before taking a deserved lead when Thomas Keller's corner deflected in off Christoph Kobald. Beister failed to make the most of a promising counter soon after, and paid the price as Dominik Kother applied the finishing touch to a Marvin Wanitzek free-kick for 1-1. Mid-table Karlsruhe were the better side in the second half, but could not force a winner.
