Wael Mohya etched his name into the history books on Matchday 14, becoming the youngest player to feature for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga.
The attacking-midfielder replaced Giovanni Reyna in the 57th minute to become Gladbach’s youngest ever Bundesliga player, but was unable to prevent their 3-1 defeat against Wolfsburg.
At 16 years and 347 days old, Mohya surpasses Marko Marin, who made his debut in Germany’s top flight on Matchday 27 of the 2006/07 season shortly after his 18th birthday.
It’s the second time that Mohya has written history. The Germany U18 international made his Gladbach debut under Eugen Polanski in October, coming on as a late substitute in the DFB Cup against Karlsruhe, cementing him as the club’s youngest player across all competitions, surpassing Karlheinz Pflipsen who made his debut for Gladbach in 1988.
Speaking in October, Polanski said: "Whether he’s 16, 17 or 18 - performance is what matters. The lad is good."
