Bundesliga
First half goals from Donyell Malen, Jude Bellingham and Karim Adeyemi helped Borussia Dortmund begin their DFB Cup challenge with a comfortable first-round victory against 1860 Munich.
1860 Munich 0-3 Borussia Dortmund
Goals: 0-1 Malen 8', 0-2 Bellingham 31' (assist: Reus), 0-3 Adeyemi 35' (assist: Malen)
A little over a week away from their big Bundesliga kick-off against Bayer Leverkusen, Dortmund were hungry to hit the right notes at third-tier 1860 and they began life under returning coach Edin Terzic with three players making their competitive debuts in Black-and-Yellow. Niklas Süle and Nico Schlotterbeck formed a new central defensive pairing while Karim Adeyemi settled in in attack. It was schemer Malen who would prove tormenter in chief in an opening half which the visitors dominated, however. The Dutch trickster - a constant danger down the left - fired a fine opener that hit both posts before going in while he would later start the move that put BVB two goals up. With Malen freeing Marco Reus, the Dortmund captain slid the ball across the face of goal for Bellingham who tapped in. Soon afterwards, 1860 goalkeeper Marco Hiller allowed Adeyemi's speculative shot to slip underneath his body and Terzic's team were cruising.
Trailing by such a deficit, Michael Köllner's men had little chance of turning the tide and, a Yannick Deichmann volley wide of the upright, the hosts rarely threatened after the restart. The lively Youssoufa Moukoko hounded Hiller's goal before Raphael Guerreiro drew a superb two-handed stop from the under-siege custodian. Reus then almost took full advantage of a lapse in the home defence as BVB probed but his failure to increase his side's lead would ultimately matter little to a Dortmund side that took their place in the hat for the second round with relative ease. Next up, the Bundesliga, with Leverkusen set to visit Signal Iduna Park next weekend.

As it happened ...
That's it ! BVB cruise through to Round 2 of the DFB Cup with goals from the excellent Malen, Bellingham and Adeyemi - all scored in the first half - helping the Bundesliga outfit advance.
Reus has the ball in the back of the net but the BVB captain was offside in the build up.
Dahoud smashes one goalwards but it's at a nice height for Hiller, who leaps and palms the ball over the crossbar.
Moukoko takes a swipe at goal from close range but his effort is kept out by Hiller's foot.
There's an air of formality to this tie now, which is understandable given the scoreline and the effort both teams have put in. Although they've cruised here, Dortmund have always looked like they have another gear which they have failed to utilise. We may see those turbo chargers come on against Leverkusen in next Saturday's Bundesliga Matchday 1 encounter.
Malen has put in a hell of a shift here and he comes off, lathered in sweat, to be replaced by Bynoe-Gittens. A goal, an assist and a ton of running for Malen tonight. Hats off to that man
Reus almost takes advantage of a lapse in the 1860 defence. The Dortmund legend draws a save from the sprawling Hiller while Moukoko is edged out in the follow up.
Yannick Deichmann smacks a left-footed volley at the Dortmund goal and his effort is not that far away, although it looked like Kobel had his right-hand post covered.
Guerreiro pings a long-range shot to the far post but Hiller is alive to it, scrambles across and makes a fancy, diving two-handed save. He'll want to see the photo of that stop later.
Youssoufa Moukoko accepts Marco Reus's through ball and is in, until some last minute 1860 defending saves the day for the hosts.
The referee signals the start of the second half. Can 1860 make any inroads into this scoreline or will BVB add another?
A very one-sided Cup tie reaches the halfway point with Bundesliga giants Dortmund in free-flowing form. Goals from Donyell Malen, Jude Bellingham and new striker Karim Adeyemi have BVB with one foot in the second round.
Niklas Süle concedes a foul and 1860 have a very rare chance to put the ball into the danger zone. Jesper Verlaat's delivery is poor, however, and the opportunity goes awry.
It's another one for BVB, but this one is on Hiller in the 1860 goal. The visitors sweep forward and the ball spreads right to Adeyemi. The debut boy drills a low, weak shot at goal but it slips under Hiller and rolls in. Dortmund are cruising.
That's one more delightful goal for the visitors. The tireless Malen frees Reus inside the area. The Dortmund captain looks up and squares for Bellingham who taps in his side's second.
Malen has been a real handful for the hosts tonight. The Dutch international once agains bursts through on the left before seeing his shot blocked.
The 1860 stadium is bouncing, despite the scoreline. The home fans are doing their best to push the hosts back into this game but it's BVB who are the dominant side.
Double change for 1860. Bär is injured and is replaced by Vrenezi while Lang comes in for Lannert in a tactical swap.
The hosts break with Yannick Deichmann thundering down the right. Schlotterbeck gets across to make a crucial challenge, the centre back sliding in and prodding away the danger. Superb defending from BVB's new man.
Adeyemi has a pop with a low left-footed strike. Zero problems for Hiller there, with the 1860 'keeper gathering with ease.
Lannert pulls back the lively Malen and that's going to be the first booking of the game.
This is a lovely strike by the Dortmund attacker, who cuts inside from the left and fires low past Hiller. The ball strikes the base of the post, travels across the line and connects with the opposite post before rolling in.
The first effort of the game falls to Malen, who swipes a shot at goal from a tight angle. Hiller gets down to save for 1860, deflecting the ball wide. The subsequent corner comes to nothing.
Both teams have enjoyed spells of possession, each knocking the ball around calmly as they look to settle.
1860 get the ball rolling in Munich.
We'll have a minute's silence in tribute to Germany and Hamburg legend, Uwe Seeler, who passed away recently.
The teams are out at the Grünwalder Stadion and we are all set for kick off in this DFB Cup, first round encounter. Superb atmosphere here.
1860 coach Michael Köllner opts for two changes to the side that began last weekend's 4-3, third division win against Dynamo Dresden. Christopher Lannert replaces the injured Sami Belkahia while Marcel Bär is preferred to Martin Kobylanski, who drops to the bench.
Kretzschmar, Freitag, Glück, Lang, Kobylanski, Moll, Vrenezi, Wein, Skenderovic
Hiller - Lannert, Morgalla, Verlaat, Steinhart - Rieder, Tallig, Deichmann, Lex - Bär, Lakenmacher
It's count the competitive debutants time for BVB, with Niklas Süle, Nico Schlotterbeck and Karim Adeyemi all starting in the Black-and-Yellow of Dortmund this evening. Elsewhere, Jude Bellingham edges closer to a century of games for Die Schwarzgelben, the midfielder appearing for the 91st time for the German giants.
Meyer, Coulibaly, Hummels, Brandt, Can, Kamara, Wolf, Bynoe-Gittens, Hazard
Kobel - Meunier, Süle, Schlotterbeck, Guerreiro - Bellingham, Dahoud, Reus - Malen, Moukoko, Adeyemi
Home coach Michael Köllner said his third-tier side, "Can't influence how Dortmund play," while admitting that, "a lot of things have to come together [for us] to have a chance." Nonetheless, the magic of the Cup means there's always an outside opportunity of an upset.
The five-time DFB Cup champions Dortmund last lifted the trophy as recently as 2021 but after slumping out to second tier St Pauli at the round of 16 stage last time out, the Black-and-Yellows will be keen to avoid any such surprise at 1860 this evening.
