Jamal Musiala and Julian Brandt were ice-cold in front of goal in 2022/23. bundesliga.com finds out where they ranked among the German top flight's most effective finishers...
1) Sheraldo Becker (Union Berlin, +4.5 xG Eff, 11 goals)
Suriname international Becker was symbolic of Union's odds-defying season. He was the only player in the Bundesliga to score over four goals more than his xG had indicated - with his team also scoring over 11 goals more than their xG figure. Becker was both the season's top scorer (11) for Die Eisernen and their leading assist provider (seven). His two goals and two assists in the 4-2 victory over Freiburg on Matchday 32 made a pivotal contribution to sealing a historic first UEFA Champions League qualification for the side from the German capital.

2) Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (Bayern Munich, +3.9 xG Eff, 10 goals)

Now the dust has settled on the campaign, the Cameroon international can be thoroughly happy with his contribution to the title-winning campaign. He scored 10 goals, despite making just 15 starts and having a modest 31 shots. Only one player in the Bundesliga recorded an even greater shot efficiency figure, and only two Bayern men scored more - Jamal Musiala (12) and Serge Gnabry (14).
3) Julian Brandt (Borussia Dortmund, +3.8 xG Eff, 9 goals)
Brandt was one of the standout performers among Dortmund's formidable attacking assortment that together helped the team to 83 goals as they came up just short of the league title on a heartbreaking final day. Nobody at the club scored more than Brandt's nine goals over the season, and nobody could match his shooting efficiency from a total of 45 shots. The Germany international also provided an impressive eight assists.
