Alphonso Davies in Bayern's Champions League squad
Canadian teenager Alphonso Davies could make his UEFA Champions League debut in the coming months, after being named in Bayern Munich's 28-man tournament squad. New Zealand international Sarpreet Singh also makes the grade.
Davies, 18, has scored two goals in eight Bundesliga appearances since moving to Bayern from Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019, but has yet to play for the record champions in European competition.
Despite being added to Bayern's roster ahead of their Champions League last-16 meeting with Liverpool last February, the Canada international did not feature in the two-legged defeat to the eventual champions.
Davies, who scored his second Bundesliga goal in as many meetings with Mainz prior to the September international break, is one of a handful of new faces in Bayern's Champions League squad.
Coach Niko Kovac has also submitted the names of young summer signings Singh (20) - currently part of the Bayern reserves in Germany's third tier - Michael Cuisance (20) and Fiete Arp (19), alongside established stars such as Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer.
Barcelona loanee Philippe Coutinho, Inter Milan-owned Ivan Perisic and former Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez have played in the competition before, but it will be a new experience for FIFA World Cup winner Benjamin Pavard.
Bayern face Red Star Belgrade in their opening Champions League fixture on 18 September. Tottenham Hotspur and Olympiacos complete Group B.
The German giants have lifted European club football's top prize on five occasions, but not since 2012/13 when they beat league rivals Borussia Dortmund in the final en route to claiming an unprecedented Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB Cup treble.
