Andre Silva bagged a brace as Eintracht Frankfurt pulled into the European places with a 5-1 thrashing of Arminia Bielefeld at the SchücoArena.
Arminia Bielefeld 1-5 Eintracht Frankfurt
Goals: 0-1 Silva (25'), 0-2 Kostic (27'), 0-3 Silva (33'), 1-3 Cordova (36'), 1-4 Nilsson (o.g. 51'), 1-5 Jovic (75')
Luka Jovic was on the bench for the third consecutive game after returning on loan from Real Madrid, with Silva leading the line. After an end-to-end opening half-hour, the Portugal international showed why he got the nod with an opportunistic finish, prodding home after Filip Kostic's cross had ricocheted his way. Kostic went from maker to taker soon after with a thunderbolt from distance which left Stefan Ortega - who had become a father for the first time on Thursday - with no chance in the Bielefeld goal. Ortega has made more saves than any other Bundesliga goalkeeper this season, but he was fishing the ball out of his net once again when Silva finished off a similar chance to his opener, this time Kostic's pass finding its way to him cleanly. Bielefeld pulled one back when Sergio Cordova powered home a Cedric Brunner cross but referee Robert Schröder's whistle for the break went with the visitors firmly in the ascendancy.
Bielefeld coach Uwe Neuhaus brought Christian Gebauer on for Reinhold Yabo at the start of the second half, but the flow of the game continued in the same direction as it had in the first, and it was 4-1 minutes after the restart when Kostic's low cross was turned home by unwitting defender Joakim Nilsson. Amin Younes then attempted to get in on the act, but after breaking into the Bielefeld box he lost his balance and fired wide. Jovic entered the fray for the final half-hour, replacing Younes, and was soon followed by Almamy Toure, Stefan Ilsanker, as Adi Hütter looked to close out the game with fresh legs. The changes worked, and Jovic bagged his third goal in three games in his second Frankfurt spell with another simple finish, this time from a Daichi Kamada cutback.
