The TQL Stadium in Cincinnati witnessed Bayern Munich enjoy a record-breaking start to their FIFA Club World Cup title tilt, with Vincent Kompany's men easing past Auckland City thanks to a Jamal Musiala hat-trick and further goals from Kingsley Coman (2), Sacha Boey, Michael Olise (2) and Thomas Müller (2).

After Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami played out a scoreless draw against Al Ahly in the tournament opener, it was up to Bayern to provide the opening goals of this newly imagined Club World Cup. The Bundesliga giants duly obliged in a one-sided first-half against the semi-pros from New Zealand. Jonathan Tah made a high-profile move to the Bavarian side from Bayer Leverkusen ahead of the competition and his debut here was a fruitful one, the Germany international soon heading a Joshua Kimmich corner back to Coman, who nodded high into the net for 1-0. Coman quickly turned provider for Boey to lash in Bayern’s second and the men in red were out of sight soon afterwards when Olise tapped home a Müller cross that had been aimed at Harry Kane. The busy Coman drilled in his second of the day in the 22nd minute and while FCB fans had to wait for their team’s fifth, it came in the form of a Müller volley that preceded Olise doubling up with a super strike from distance.
Perhaps with an eye on next Saturday’s second game in Group C against South American threats Boca Juniors, Vincent Kompany brought his brace-boys Coman and Olise off for the second half. The bad news for Auckland was that Bayern had serious options among the replacements. Lennart Karl was introduced to make his senior Bayern debut while Musiala would later enter the fray having fully recovered from injury. The 22-year-old will likely be one of the stars of this tournament and he quickly showed why, curling in FCB’s seventh of the day. Musiala then made it a personal double from the penalty spot, before taking advantage of a defensive error to complete a hat-trick before supporters of the record German champions bounced to one more Müller effort that took Bayern to double figures and the perfect Club World Cup start.

Bayern's most beloved son gets his 250th career goal in a Bayern shirt. Gnabry latches onto a loose ball in the box before digging out a cross from the byline. Müller is - as he so often is - in the right place at the right time, to guide it home on the volley.
Bayern's No. 42 rounds off an hugely impressive second half performance with his third goal of the afternoon. Latching onto a loose ball out of the back from Auckland keeper Tracey, he punishes the sloppiness with a clinical finish into the bottom left corner.
Auckland have their first shot on target of the match as Kilkolly latches onto a ball in behind on the left flank. The only man up, he has to go it alone, striking a low effort towards the far corner, but Neuer is there to smother it.
The centre-back does his best winger impression as he cuts in off the left flank, beats two defenders and unleashes a shot towards the far post, but it's off target.
No team had ever scored seven goals in a Club World Cup match before today. Bayern now have eight!
The No. 42 is the latest Bayern player to grab a brace today. After being brought down in the box, he steps up to convert the penalty, sending Tracey diving the wrong way as he strokes it home.
The 10x OFC Champions League champions catch Bayern out at the back and launch a very quick counter-attack. It's worked to Yoo on the right, who has the opportunity to hit it first-time, but in cutting it back onto his left foot, allows Musiala to get back and make the block.
It was only a matter of time for Bayern's No. 42 really. Müller cuts it back from the left channel to Musiala on the edge of the box, who - cool as you like - picks his spot in the far corner and curls it past Tracey.
The New Zealanders now opt to go to the bench, making a double change; bringing on Tong and Largos for Garriga and Lobo.
The teenager's corner finds Musiala, who beats his marker on the edge of the box before laying it off to Gnabry. The German international squeezes a shot away, but Tracey is down and equal to it.
Both Musiala and Upamecano complete their return from injury as they replace Kane and Guerreiro. Will there be more Bayern names on the scoresheet today?
The biggest win ever at the Club World Cup was when Al Hilal beat Al Jazira 6-1 in 2021. Being 6-0 up at the hour-mark, Bayern are easily on course to break that record.
Müller plays a one-two with Karl down the right before pulling the trigger. However, his powerful right-footed effort is well wide of the mark.
Kimmich takes it from the left, picking out Gnabry on the edge of the box. The substitute curls an effort through lots of bodies towards the back post, forcing a fantastic diving save out of Tracey in the Auckland goal.
Stanišić spots a clever run from Karl and picks him out with an equally clever ball. The 17-year-old's effort with his back to goal is only just wide of the mark.
Auckland break with pace with their No. 10 driving his side up the pitch before playing a tidy reverse pass into the path of Lobo, whose effort is blocked behind for a corner. It's swung in from the left, but Neuer gets up well to claim it.
Bayern's 17-year-old hot prospect makes his debut this afternoon after coming on for Olise at half-time.
Auckland get the ball rolling again for the second half here. Kompany makes two changes at half-time; Gnabry and Karl come in for Coman and Olise, the former of which is denied his opportunity for a first Bayern career hat-trick.
The No. 17 rounds off a truly dominant first-half display with an absolute wondergoal. Receiving it out wide from Boey, he cuts inside and beats two defenders before curling a precision strike into the far corner.

The Bayern legend scores what will be one of his final ever goals in a Bayern shirt. Tah sprays the ball wide to Olise, who lifts his head and puts an absolute peach into the path of the Raumdeuter, who needs only to steer it past Tracey from inside the six yard box.
The Frenchman cuts in off the left flank and has no other thought in his mind than to shoot. His right-footed effort cannons towards the bottom left corner, but Tracey gets across well to parry it, before diving on the loose ball.
Since conceding the fourth of the match, Auckland have really shored up their defence. They are still struggling to maintain possession, but the New Zealanders have defended well and have made it especially hard for Bayern to involve Kane.
A great ball by Müller catches the Auckland defence out, finding the run of Kane in behind the back-line. There's just too much pace on it for Kane to bring it down, though and Auckland are let off.
Olise slips it through for Kane inside the Auckland box, who drills a powerful low shot towards the near post, but Tracey is equal to the effort, palming it away.
There's a big cheer from the crowd as Thomas Müller receives the ball in an advanced position on the left flank. Unfortunately, his cross towards the back post is overhit and trickles behind for a goal-kick.
A corner comes in from the left, taken by the Germany captain. It's headed away at the near post by an Auckland defender, dropping to Boey, who (again) strikes it first-time into the stands.
The Frenchman is there to punish the New Zealanders as Auckland lose the ball in midfield and Bayern instantly make them pay. Coman shrugs off two defenders in the box before converting a low finish across the keeper with his left boot.
