Goal-king Kane at the double in Bayern win

Harry Kane's prolific Bundesliga beginning continued apace with the Bayern striker netting a brace at the Allianz Arena to help the defending champions see off battling opponents Augsburg.

Bayern Munich 3-1 Augsburg
Goals: 1-0 Uduokhai 32' (o.g.), 2-0 Kane 40' (pen.), 3-0 Kane 69' (assist: Davies), 3-1 Beljo 86'

The record champions were in the mood to impress in their first outing of the new campaign at the Allianz Arena – but had to be patient as they probed the defensive visitors. Augsburg’s Ermedin Demirovic actually came closest to scoring in the opening 30 minutes, slotting wide as the visitors launched an incisive quick counter attack. Bayern got a fortunate break as a Leroy Sane shot bounced off the post and was bundled by Felix Uduokhai into his own net. Soon afterwards, a Joshua Kimmich strike was handled by Niklas Dorsch and a spot kick was awarded, allowing Kane to convert cooly down the middle for his first goal in front of the Bayern faithful at the Allianz Arena. The memorable moment for the star signing gave Bayern a somewhat flattering two-goal lead to take into the break.

Kane had an opportunity to strike again early in the second half, twisting and firing off-target after Kingsley Coman slipped the ball through to him. Sane then snapped a shot wide from outside the box as Bayern tightened their stranglehold on the game. Augsburg showed they weren't out of it entirely with Ruben Vargas having an opportunity from distance saved by Sven Ulreich. Sane couldn't meet the ball with the goal gaping following some Coman trickery before Serge Gnabry glanced a header that only a leaping Dahmen save could keep out. Sane rattled a post with a sweeping drive as the hosts hunted a third. That duly came as Kane showed his masterful finishing ability in tucking the ball in after Alphonso Davies found him on a fluid break. Kane had a chance via a late header to make the magical first appearance in Munich even greater with a hat-trick, but Augsburg had the final say with Dion Beljo finishing neatly for a consolation goal.
