Harry Kane scored his first FIFA Club World Cup goal and made another as Bayern Munich booked their place in the last 16 with victory over Argentina's Boca Juniors in Miami.
Bayern Munich 2-1 Boca Juniors
Goals: 1-0 Kane 9', 1-1 Merentiel 66', 2-1 Olise 84' (assist: Kane)
After swatting aside Auckland City in their Club World Cup Group C opener, Bayern made an ominous start at Hard Rock Stadium. Michael Olise scored directly from a corner in the seventh minute, only for the goal to be ruled out upon VAR review for a foul against Serge Gnabry. Kane miscued following another devilish bit of play from Olise, before making amends with a tidy left-footed finish from inside the area to give the Bundesliga champions a deserved lead. Kingsley Coman was unable to add an instant second after more fantastic build-up play, while Gnabry was denied by a strong recovery challenge when racing through on the Boca goal. Kevin Zenón gave the Argentine side momentary respite with a couple of fierce strikes at Bayern captain Manuel Neuer, his second after Agustín Marchesín had thwarted Olise following a breakaway one-on-one. The Boca stopper also blocked at the feet of Kane, whose last act of a one-sided first half was to land a free-kick onto the roof of the net.
Boca improved after the restart, but their equaliser still fell somewhat against the run of play. After Olise lost out on the edge of the Boca penalty area, the yellow shirts broke and found Miguel Merentiel, who beat Jonathan Tah and Josip Stanišić before firing high past Neuer. Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany shuffled his pack in a bid to wrestle back the initiative, but the Belgian's plans were disrupted by an injury to second-half substitute Jamal Musiala, scorer of a hat-trick from the bench against Auckland. Bayern found a way, though, as Konrad Laimer's tenacious work helped Kane collect possession and touch off a pass for Olise to sweep in a fitting winnner. Laimer then had an effort chalked off for offside, while Olise tickled the side netting with an injury-time free-kick as Bayern booked their place in the knockouts with room to spare. As long as the Bavarians avoid defeat to Benfica on 24 June, they'll progress as section winners.

As it happened!
Two games, two wins and a place in the knockouts. Bayern were made to work for the points, but it's a deserved victory in the end. Benfica are up next on 24 June, with top spot in Group C on the line.
Olise almost adds the gloss, but his clipped free-kick is the wrong side of the post.
Eight minutes for Bayern to see this out. They're heading into the last 16, as things stand...
Laimer thinks he's added a third, but it won't count. There was a marginal offside as he exchanged passes with Müller in the build-up.
There it is! Laimer makes his presence felt in the Boca box as a loose ball breaks to Kane. He touches it off for Olise, who sweeps a fabulous finish into the bottom corner. A fine, fine strike by a sensational player!
Gutting for the Bayern youngster, who's only just come back from injury. He hobbles off, with Thomas Müller set to come on for the remainder...
The 40,000 or so Boca fans have been given a real lift by that goal. They're really making themselves heard now.
Upamecano's on to shore up the Bayern defence, in a move that sees Stanišić move out to the left. Leroy Sané, who'll join Galatasaray on 1 July, is also on. Guerreiro and Coman head off. Boca respond with a pair of changes of their own.
Olise loses out to swarm of yellow shirts on the edge of the Boca area. The Argentines tear forward and work it up to Merentiel, who beats two Bayern defenders before sending a thumping finish past Neuer.
Boca are showing much more fight as they chase the equaliser, the Argentines putting in some tenacious challenges in midfield.
Like-for-like from Kompany, with Aleksandar Pavlović and Jamal Musiala, who scored a hat-trick off the bench against Auckland, on for Goretzka and Gnabry.
Kane pounces on a deflected ball in the Boca box, but his shot on the turn is blocked behind for a corner that comes to nothing.
Guerreiro lets a pass run for Olise, who can't beat Marchesín with a well-struck shot from the edge of the area. Superb build again.
Neuer doing Neuer things as he races out to halfway to stop a Boca counter following a Bayern corner.
Merentiel loops a ball into the box, but it's routine for Neuer. The Bayern custodian has been really switched on the handful of times he's been called into action.
Leading and having enjoyed 72 percent possession in the first 45, Bayern are unchanged. Boca also line up as they were...
Olise and Kane stand over the ball after Gnabry is upended 20 yards from goal. Kane steps up, the England forward planting his effort onto the roof of the net.
Marchesín punches away a near-post corner from Olise as the first half ticks over into added time. Sixty seconds left...
The Bayern winger scored some stunning free-kicks in 2024/25, but his latest attempt is straight at the Boca goalkeeper.
Kimmich plays a free-kick short to Laimer. The Austrian lifts a cross to the back post, where Tah spoons over on the stretch. Kane was unmarked in the middle...
The goalscorer collects from Olise in the Boca box, but Marchesín is quick off his line to snuff out the threat. Bayern's build-up play has been superb.
Zenón wriggles away as Boca return fire, but his rising strike from inside the area is beaten away by Bayern's captain fantastic.
Bayern with a lightning break to carve open the Boca defence. Olise controls Coman's raking pass and tries to round Marchesín, who does really well to pluck the ball out at the French winger's feet.
Guerreiro concedes a free-kick on the corner of the Bayern area after getting in a tangle with Kevin Zenón. The Boca midfielder lifts the resultant set-piece over the Bayern wall, but Neuer is able to punch clear.
Gnabry's sent in on the Boca goal, but a yellow shirt puts in a crucial recovery challenge to clear the impending danger.
Bayern have been superb in Miami. They're playing the game on their terms and almost exclusively in the Boca half. No hint of any post-season fatigue whatsoever.
It's one-way traffic as Olise finds Gnabry on the right-hand side of the area. He flashes in a cross for Coman in the box, but the Frenchman fails to turn it home. Huge let-off for Boca, who were all at sea again.
You can't keep a good man down! Kimmich's corner is punched cleared, but Bayern recycle possession. The ball's worked out to the right for Laimer and whipped into the box towards Coman. A defender blocks it out to Kane, who finds the bottom corner with a controlled finish on his left foot. It has been coming!
Boca get away with one as Kane completely misses his attempt to convert Olise's low ball into the six-yard area. Very unlike the Bayern man, but the German giants do win a corner moments later...
Bayern come again with Coman, who balloons over. Rough start for Boca. They just can't get a foothold in the game.
Bayern continue to hog the ball, with Coman already making a real nuisance of himself on the left-hand side.
