Double-winners Bayern Munich will take on Borussia Dortmund in the 2020 Supercup on 30 September, the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) has confirmed.
The Supercup is traditionally held between the Bundesliga champions and DFB Cup winners from the previous season, but because Bayern completed a domestic double in 2019/20 with their cup final win over Bayer Leverkusen, they will face Bundesliga runners-up Dortmund.
Usually the season-opening fixture, the 2020 edition will fall a week after Matchday 1 of the 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign due to the rescheduling demands of the coronavirus pandemic.
The nominal home team and venue will be announced in due course.
It will be the seventh time Bayern and Dortmund have contested the Supercup since it was re-introduced in 2010, with the Munich club leading the head-to-head with three victories. Germany’s record league and cup winners are also the most successful team in Supercup history with seven titles.
Dortmund claimed their sixth Supercup with victory over Bayern in last season's contest at the Signal Iduna Park, thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and Paco Alcacer. The defeat ended Bayern's run of three successive Supercup wins.

Robert Lewandowski, who has won the Supercup once with Dortmund and three times as a Bayern player, is the fixture's five-goal leading scorer.
No extra time is played in the case of a draw after 90 minutes, with the game going straight to penalties.
