Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich have made face masks available on the club's online store for fans in need of extra protection during the coronavirus pandemic, and the masks are incredibly unique.
The club explained in an online statement that the scarves have been designed by a Bavarian company using material from scarves. The scarves were originally planned to be given out at the Allianz Arena ahead of the club's UEFA Champions League last-16 second leg against Chelsea to mark the club's 120th anniversary.
It means that no two masks – which are available via the Bayern online store for both children and adults – are the same.
And all proceeds made from the sale of masks will go to the 'WeKickCorona' campaign set up by Bayern pair Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich. The donation initiative has already raised more than 3.5 million Euros for social and charitable institutions.
"With this campaign, Leon and I want to deliver quick and direct help where it's most needed,” said Kimmich on the club's website. "We hoped as many people as possible would participate and join in, so we're even happier that we've had so much support. It's very nice that the club is supporting us – and now we hope that a good amount for a good cause will come out of it."
Goretzka has also approved of the style and sustainability of the masks. "The masks actually look very cool, and the fact there's an environmental consideration behind the whole thing with the sewn-on fan scarves just rounds it off."
