Coman at the double as Bayern Munich beat Freiburg

Bayern enjoyed much of the early pressure but it was Freiburg who carved out the first real chance of the game, Lucas Höler blazing wide after being slipped through by Rolland Sallai. Alphonso Davies fired similarly far off target at the other end minutes later after following up on a long ball forward to Sané. Perhaps fittingly, it was a miscue that lead to the opener. Coman looked for Harry Kane with a cross into the box, but mis-hit it and it flew in off the back post beyond Noah Atubolu. Kane then sent a pair of shots narrowly wide before laying on Sané for the second. Sané thought he had a stunning second for himself and third for Bayern towards the end of the half after beating his marker and firing into the top corner, but it was ruled out for offside.

Thomas Müller tried to unluck the Freiburg defence again at the start of the second half, but his cross was cleared to safety. Joshua Kimmich chipped a fine ball through to Leon Goretzka soon after, but he headed the ball back into the mixer when a turn and shot at goal would have served him better. Bayern then had a number of corners, but Freiburg did well to defend a few Kimmich deliveries. Coman curled an attempt narrowly over with his weaker left foot. Sané tried to twist and turn his way to another chance but Lukas Kübler cleared. Mathys Tel, late sub for Kane, had the ball in the net again but was also offside. Coman added a third late on, though, as it ended 3-0.

• Coman scored his first Bundesliga goals since May's 2-1 win at Cologne.
• Sané has scored six league goals this season. Four of them have been assisted by Kane.
• With eight goals and four assists, Kane has had a hand in five more goals than Freiburg have scored.
• Bayern scored for the 61st home game in a row. Their last blank at the Allianz came against RB Leipzig back in February 2020.
• The champions had 16 shots at goal to their opponents' two.
• Freiburg won in Munich first time in 24 attempts in last season's DFB Cup quarter-finals. Before that, they'd lost 20 and drawn three.
