Bayern reveal HumanRace shirt designed by Adidas and Pharrell
Bayern Munich have joined major European clubs such as Real Madrid, Juventus, Manchester United and Arsenal in joining Adidas' 'Human Race' campaign, in which designer and performing artists Pharrell Williams has designed unique jersey collections.
The campaign led by Bayern's long-time jersey sponsor is to raise awareness for tolerance and peaceful coexistence by the end of the year. With the money raised from this initiative, the record Bundesliga champions will support SOS Children's Villages worldwide.
"When you put on a jersey, you belong to the same team - no matter where you come from or what you look like," Serge Gnabry said on the club's website. "Football makes it possible to experience that all people are equal. We players support this campaign. We are for diversity."
The new jersey - along with accompanying shorts and socks, as well as fresh boots - were designed by Pharrell Williams having been hand-picked by the American designer and performing artists.
"Taking inspiration from the iconic home game red shirt is the 1991-93 jersey, redesigned by hand and reinterpreted for a modern football community," reads a statement on the Adidas website. "The first of it's kind the 91-93 FC Bayern Munich jersey was a stand-out because of it's bold 3 stripe print across shoulder and shorts."
