Bayern Munich have unveiled a special jersey in honour of the 50th anniversary of the city’s Olympiastadion.

In a departure from the club’s traditional all-red attire, the one-off kit features splashes of white, orange, green and grey in homage to the tented roof of the arena, which was Bayern’s home from 1972 to 2005, at which point they moved to the Allianz Arena.

It is the second special-edition jersey Bayern have released this year, following on from their now customary annual Oktoberfest edition.

The Munich Olympiastadion was constructed for the 1972 Olympic Games, which were held in the city. Bayern played their home matches there once the Olympics were over, and while the venue is no longer used for top-level football fixtures, it still regularly houses major events, athletics championships, concerts and trade shows.
