Harry Kane scored twice as Bayern Munich overcame Lazio to reach the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Bayern Munich 3-0 Lazio (Bayern win 3-1 on agg.)
Goals: 1-0 Kane 38' (assist: Guerreiro), 2-0 Müller 45'+2 (assist: De Ligt), 3-0 Kane 66'
Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Bayern had to win to have any chance of progressing. There was an early warning shot from Lazio's former Hertha Berlin midfielder Matteo Guendouzi that sailed wide, but otherwise Thomas Tuchel's men asked nearly all the questions in the first half. Jamal Musiala forced the first save of note from Ivan Provedel in the 15th minute, while some gutsy defending prevented Leroy Sané and Raphaël Guerreiro from landing shots on target. Eric Dier and Ciro Immobile flashed headers wide, before Kane broke the deadlock by stealing in to head a scuffed Guerreiro ball home. Musiala went within a whisker of doubling the lead with Bayern's next attack, but poked wide. Thomas Müller went one better in added time, glancing in a Matthijs de Ligt volley to put Bayern ahead in the tie for the first time.
Rather than chase the knockout blow, Bayern sat on their slender advantage in the early part of the second half. Risk-free, patient build-up involving Müller almost produced a third goal with an hour gone, but Guerreiro sent his low drive wide of the far post. Müller was involved again when Bayern did stretch their lead. He combined with Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović to set up Sané for a shot that Provedal could only parry into the path of Kane, who made no mistake from close range. Provedal pushed a Müller strike onto the woodwork and Sané sent a thumping effort wide as Bayern powered through to the last eight of a competition they're more than capable of winning for the seventh time, on this evidence.
