Bayern youngster joins Klose's Nuremberg

Buchmann joins Nuremberg for the 2025/26 season, leaving the German top flight for Bundesliga 2, where he will again work with Klose, having previously played under Germany's record goalscorer in the Bayern youth setup.

The 20-year-old Germany youth international joined Bayern from Augsburg's academy in 2019 and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2023. He extended that contract with Bayern, before switching to the Max-Morlock Stadium.

"I'm really looking forward to the upcoming challenge at Nuremberg and the upcoming season in the Bundesliga 2," Buchmann told Nuremberg's official website.

"The trust that the management and the coach have placed in me means a lot to me, and I will give my all to repay it. I want to deliver consistent performances here, take the next step in my development, and approach this task with maximum motivation."

Buchmann had been in and around Bayern's senior squad for some time and was part of the travelling squad for UEFA Champions League games last season under Vincent Kompany. Injuries, though, hampered some of his progress and he is yet to make a competitive appearance for the record champions.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund hopes that this temporary spell away will benefit both the player and his parent club in the long-term. 

He said: "Tarek has everything required to establish himself in the professional game. Unfortunately, he's had some bad luck with injuries over the past two years, so we're all the more delighted that he made his comeback in the first few games of the Regionalliga season.

"He now has the opportunity to gain valuable match practice at Nuremberg in the second tier. Tarek is a terrific character who won't let himself be thrown off track and should now take his next steps. FC Bayern will monitor him closely."
