Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski celebrated a century of Allianz Arena goals on Saturday.

Robert Lewandowski has cemented his legacy as one of the all-time great strikers by becoming the first player in history to score 100 competitive goals at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena.

The 30-year-old frontman reached the milestone in the first half of the defending champions’ 3-1 win over Schalke on Saturday evening.

Of his 100 Allianz Arena goals, 99 have come in the colours of Bayern (73 Bundesliga, 23 UEFA Champions League and three DFB Cup). He also scored once on Bayern soil during his four-year stint at Borussia Dortmund between 2011-2014.

Bayern have played their home games at the Allianz Arena since the start of the 2005/06 season.

"I scored my 100th goal, which of course is a nice moment for me and it’s something special," Lewandowski said after his milestone effort took Bayern to within five points of leaders Dortmund.

"Obviously that was also a very important game for us. After Dortmund's [draw with Hoffenheim], we knew we had to win. We were playing very well and I’m very happy because 100 goals at the Allianz Arena is like a dream, and the dream’s come true. This is something I should be proud of. I’m very happy."

Lewandowski’s Allianz Arena century moves him level third on 119 goals with Roland Wohlfarth in Bayern’s all-time leading Bundesliga scoring charts. Only Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (162) and Gerd Müller (365) have scored more.

All told, the Poland international has scored 175 goals in 223 appearances in all competitions since moving to Munich from Dortmund in summer 2014, while his overall tally of 193 Bundesliga goals - 119 for Bayern, 74 for BVB - means he needs just two more to overtake former teammate Claudio Pizarro (currently enjoying his fourth spell with Werder Bremen) as the German top flight’s record foreign goalscorer.
