Jamal Musiala was on target for a much-changed and injury-hit Bayern Munich side, but a late goal from Marcus Ingvartsen earned Union Berlin a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

With as many as nine potential first-team starters missing through suspension or injury, a heavily-rotated Bayern side took on the challenge of facing Union in between their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie with Paris Saint-Germain. Despite the reshuffled line-up, Bayern took control from the get-go and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had the first effort on goal of the game, blocked behind off Robin Knoche. Choupo-Moting was then denied by Andreas Luthe having been played in on goal by Tiago Dantas, before Thomas Müller saw his rebound saved by the Union No.1. Dantas (20) was one of two players - along with Josip Stanisic (21) - making their starting debut in the Bundesliga for Bayern. The first chance for the away side came with 24 minutes played and proved to be the best of the half, as Marius Bülter met Keita Endo's cross in front of goal but could only find the grateful hands of Manuel Neuer with his header. Kingsley Coman took a knock but was able to carry on into the half-time break, with Hansi Flick desperate not to see any more of his starting players fall to injury.
The half-time interval didn't provide Coman enough time to recover, though, and he came off for Leroy Sane as the second half got underway. Bayern continued as they left off with Jerome Boateng forcing Luthe into a save before Sane's shot flew wide across goal from the right. Max Kruse had his first effort on goal as he hit Christopher Trimmel's cross to the back post on the volley, but the ball dragged wide much to his dismay. There was another Bayern debut in the second half as 18-year-old Christopher Scott entered the fray. Despite the array of back-up players on the pitch, Bayern took the lead through a well-known source as Müller found Musiala in front of goal, who beautifully stepped past Knoche before slotting home from close range. Just as Bayern looked set to secure all three points, substitutes combined for Union to equalise. A quick-thinking throw-in from Cedric Teuchert sent Robert Andrich into the penalty area and his cut-back in front of goal was tapped home by Ingvartsen. That late goal was enough in the end to earn the visitors a point, their second of the season against Bayern.
