Bayern Munich moved two points clear at the top of the table after overcoming rivals Borussia Dortmund 3-2 in the Bundesliga's first Klassiker of the season on Saturday.

bundesliga.com rounds up the post-match quotes from both camps following the end-to-end encounter at the Signal Iduna Park...

Bayern Munich

Hansi Flick (head coach): “It was a sensational game. There was an incredible amount of quality out on the pitch and there were a lot of chances at both ends. We were a bit more clinical, more efficient in front of goal. The win was more than deserved. Dortmund were dangerous when we made mistakes. We need to be more patient so that we don’t have situations like that as often.”

Leon Goretzka (midfielder): “These games are about more than just three points. It’s about having commitment and having the right level of respect. As I said, these are huge games and very important for us, mentally. It’s great to be able to get the win today.”

Manuel Neuer (goalkeeper): “It was a deserved win for us, especially if you look at the second half. We were the better team there. We increasingly had the game under control. David Alaba’s goal just before half-time was important. That allowed us to have a breather feeling a lot calmer. We were really good in the second half.”

Borussia Dortmund

Lucien Favre (head coach): "Obviously there were a lot of things that we could have done better. We created a lot of chances, we countered and we could have won the game. We missed too many chances in the first half and we weren’t quite on it at times."

Erling Haaland (striker): “If you ask me personally, I have to score [more]. It’s about getting the best out of me and the whole team and then we will be on the same level as Bayern. But right now we’re not, so Bayern are a better team and the best team in the world. That’s how it is."

Mats Hummels (defender): “All three of their goals took deflections, and we weren’t clinical enough in front of their goal. I’m not saying we dominated the game, but luck wasn’t on our side today. We could have done better up front. We missed a lot of chances, a lot of clear-cut opportunities. It was a very open game. Bayern were really strong going forward, but were wide open at the back. In the end, it was decided by the team that was more efficient.”

Manuel Akanji (defender): "We’ve seen that we can compete with them, but we need to be more ruthless up front and defend better at the back. We’ve run Bayern close recently, so it’s painful to lose this fixture again."
