Lukasz Piszczek, Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland and Raphael Guerreiro fired Borussia Dortmund back to winning ways in a supremely confident showing against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Signal Iduna Park.
Borussia Dortmund 4-0 Eintracht Frankfurt
Goals: 1-0 Piszczek (33'), 2-0 Sancho (50'), 3-0 Haaland (54'), 4-0 Guerreiro (74')
Usually it's the fans that are star-struck, but a stunning pre-match Tifo from Dortmund's partisan Yellow Wall caught the imagination of players and spectators alike in a game that didn't really get going until the half-hour mark. Guerreiro had already struck the woodwork for Dortmund, when the Portugal international provided the spark for the opening goal with a cute ball into the box for Achraf Hakimi. Piszczek collected the ensuing pass, before firing home left-footed into the bottom corner. Haaland had a shot blocked and Hakimi fired over on the counter as Dortmund ended the half firmly in the ascendancy.
Bas Dost entered the fray for Frankfurt after the restart, but was barely given a sniff as BVB succeeded in putting the game to bed before even an hour had been played. Axel Witsel sent Sancho through on goal with trademark incision in the 50th minute. The England international proceeded to put Stefan Ilsanker on his back, before rifling behind Kevin Trapp. A third followed four minutes later, with Guerreiro and Hakimi the catalyst once more. The rampaging wing-backs combined with Sancho to devastating effect, paving the way for Haaland to get in on the act with his eighth Bundesliga goal in four games. Guerreiro got the goal his performance deserved with a fine strike from 18 yards to draw an emphatic line under last week's 4-3 loss to Bayer Leverkusen.
