Jude Bellingham edged Borussia Dortmund a step closer to the UEFA Champions League last 16 against Sevilla.

Jude Bellingham broke Wayne Rooney’s record for most UEFA Champions League goals in a single season by an English teenager as Borussia Dortmund drew with Sevilla to consolidate second place in Group G.

Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Sevilla
Goals: 0-1
Nianzou 18' (assist: Rakitic), 1-1 Bellingham 35' (assist: Meunier)

Dortmund won 4-1 in Seville on Matchday 3, but paid the price for a slow start as former Bayern Munich defender Tanguy Nianzou powered in a header from ex-Schalke midfielder Ivan Rakitic’s free-kick. BVB had fought back from 2-0 down to draw with Bayern at the weekend, though, and were level with 10 minutes left of the first half. Donyell Malen barreled forward on the counter, before laying the ball off to Bellingham. He continued his run into the box as he shifted the play out wide to Thomas Meunier, and duly applied the finishing touch via a deflection off Nianzou. The 19-year-old attempted to add a fifth Champions League goal for the campaign to his tally soon after, but sent his 20-yard strike over.

Edin Terzic introduced Raphael Guerreiro at the start of the second half, with teenager Tom Rothe making way at left-back. The Portugal international was straight into the action, driving a shot at a Sevilla defender. Mats Hummels looped the return ball onto the chest of Niklas Süle, who proceeded to thrash a volley on the turn straight at Bounou from range. Former Dortmund forward Adnan Januzaj blazed over, though it wouldn’t have counted due to an offside in the build-up. Gregor Kobel then made himself big to thwart Erik Lamela at point-blank range following a corner. Substitute Gio Reyna went on a mazy run in added time, but his effort went across goal and wide, leaving Dortmund on the cusp of qualification to the round of 16 with two games to go.

BELLINGHAM WATCH

Bellingham harries Carmona, sliding in to block the Sevilla man's attempted clearance. He then lets out a roar of disapproval as the ball goes out for a goal-kick rather than a throw down by the corner flag. That's commitment, that's Bellingham.

OVER FROM BELLINGHAM!

Dortmund play keep-ball, before shifting the tempo in the final third. Rothe slips in Brandt, who cuts a ball back to the edge of the box. Bellingham gets there first, but can't keep his shot down. He's been everywhere for the Black-Yellows.

BELLINGHAM!

Four games, four Champions League goals for Bellingham - and with it Wayne Rooney's record for most goals in a single Champions League campaign by an English teenager. Malen starts the move with a driving run up the left. Bellingham arrives to move the ball out to the right, before continuing his run into the box and turning in the return pass via a deflection off Nianzou.

Dortmund with a chance on the break through Malen. He tries to get it through to Modeste, but Nianzou gets in the way.

NOT IN THE GROOVE

Dortmund are a touch over 40 percent in the possession stakes. When they do have the ball, it's typically passes across their own back line. Very un-Dortmund so far...

PENALTY?

Boos ring out as Bellingham is bumped over in the penalty box by Carmona. He thinks it's a penalty, as do the home fans, but the team of match officials are unmoved.

vs

PLAN B?

Dortmund's intensity levels aren't yet what they were against Bayern at the weekend. They're struggling to contend with Sevilla's aggression on and off the ball. Terzic may already be thinking about how to roll the dice, as he did to such great effect in Der Klassiker.

ROLLING BACK THE YEARS

There's been talk of a Germany recall for Hummels, ahead of next month's World Cup. Seeing how BVB have conceded three goals in 691 minutes with him on the pitch compared to seven in 478 minutes without him so far this season, Flick could do worse than take the 33-year-old defender - a World Cup winner in 2014 - to Qatar.

Dortmund have only lost two of their last 13 Champions League home games (W8, D3), and one of their last 11 matches in front of their own fans in the competition against Spanish opposition (W5, D5).
