Bundesliga
DFB Cup holders Borussia Dortmund will host Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich at the Signal Iduna Park in the 2021 Supercup on Tuesday, 17 August at 8.30pm CEST.
The Deutsche Fußball-Liga (DFL) has confirmed that the winners of both domestic titles in 2020/21 will contest the 12th edition of the Supercup since its reintroduction in 2010. It will take place in Dortmund for the sixth time, with this year a reversal of the 2020 contest as Bayern beat BVB 3-2 in dramatic fashion at the Allianz Arena.
The Supercup has traditionally been the opening fixture of the German season for the last decade, usually being played the week before the first round of DFB Cup fixtures. That is then followed by the first Bundesliga matchday.

However, this season it will again take place after the commencement of the domestic campaign due to the summer's UEFA European Championship. The first round of the cup is scheduled for 6-9 August, while the league season kicks off on 13-15 August with defending champions Bayern opening the campaign on the Friday night.
The Munich club are also the Supercup holders after claiming it as part of their historic six-trophy haul in 2020. They are record eight-time winners, having first lifted it in 1987 and competing every year since 2012. Borussia are the second-most successful with six titles, with the most recent coming in 2019 after a 2-0 victory over Bayern at the Signal Iduna Park.
This will be the eighth Klassiker in the Supercup since its re-introduction in 2010, with Bayern leading the head-to-head with four victories to three.

The respective Bundesliga champions have won the Supercup 13 times, with the DFB Cup holders and Bundesliga runners-up lifting it on four occasions each. Robert Lewandowski, who has won the Supercup once with Dortmund and four times as a Bayern player, is the fixture's five-goal leading scorer.
No extra-time is played in the case of a draw after 90 minutes, with the game going straight to penalties.
