Borussia Dortmund unveiled a one-off retro neon kit for their Bundesliga match at home to Werder Bremen on Matchday 29.

The jersey sticks to the club's traditional black and yellow colours, but the latter appears in an eye-catching neon that harks back to the design of the 1990s, which was worn by heroes of the time such as Michael Zorc, Karl-Heinz Riedle, Lars Ricken, Matthias Sammer and Paul Lambert when Dortmund won their first Bundesliga two titles and the 1997 UEFA Champions League.

Fans can even choose to have the names of those legends and more printed on the shirt.

BVB launched it with the hashtag #NULLNE90N, combining those two factors with the 09 - pronounced in German as "null neun" - in the club's name, which in full is Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e. V. Dortmund. The number refers to the team's founding 111 years ago in 1909.

The Bremen game was chosen as it coincided with the weekend when Borussia first debuted their neon yellow kit. The message for the release is "Every era begins with the will of its heroes".

CEO Carsten Cramer said: "The heroes of this era led BVB from the 80s with relegation struggles and defeats to the most successful decade in our history."
