Silas Wamangituka fired a second successive Bundesliga brace as VfB Stuttgart hit five past Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park for the first time and earned their first win in Westphalia in 13 years with a scintillating performance on Saturday.

The season's surprise package were out to cause another shock at the Signal Iduna Park as Stuttgart started the game superbly. Borna Sosa forced Roman Bürki into action early on with a powerfully hit free-kick, with Stuttgart's high pressing causing problems for Dortmund and their play out from the back. Tanguy Coulibaly missed the target from close range just before Jude Bellingham had what would have been his first Bundesliga goal ruled out with Marco Reus offside in the build-up. Stuttgart's dominance of the early exchanges was rewarded on 26 minutes when Mateo Klimowicz was brought down in the penalty area by Emre Can and Silas Wamangituka slotted home the spot-kick. The visitors should have added a second when Coulibaly's close-range shot was saved by Bürki and the rebound was fired over the crossbar from just a few yards out by Klimowicz. Stuttgart were made to rue their missed chances when Raphael Guerreiro's outstanding long ball was met by a world-class finish across Gregor Kobel by Gio Reyna as Dortmund drew level before the break.
Undeterred by Dortmund's equaliser at the end of the first half, Stuttgart went ahead again just eight minutes into the second. Orel Mangala pounced onto some slack passing at the back and found Silas in front of goal to complete his second brace in as many Bundesliga games. Moments after Lucien Favre changed his system with Reinier coming on for Can, Stuttgart doubled their lead as Philipp Förster latched onto Sosa’s pass into the middle and fired home for his first Bundesliga goal. Just three minutes later and it was four for the away side as Coulibaly curled home after skipping past Mats Hummels in the Dortmund penalty area. Stuttgart could have added more late on with Nicolas Gonzalez going close on the counter-attack, while Jadon Sancho saw his low drive saved by Kobel as his search for a first league goal of the campaign goes on. Reyna was denied a second goal before the end with Youssoufa Moukoko offside in the build-up and Dortmund's woes worsened as Gonzalez broke away and completed the scoring in added time as Stuttgart took all three points home from Dortmund in a five-star performance
