Borussia Dortmund lose out to Villarreal, who scored at the end of the first half through Moreno and again after the break via a Chukwueze goal. Die Schwarzgelben will complete their pre-season with a final friendly against Antalyaspor on 30 July.
Chukwueze wriggles through and prods a shot goalwards. The ball hits the base of the post and rolls away to safety.
Moukoko slams an effort at goal and Rulli makes the save, while injuring himself in the process. The Villarreal 'keeper is soon back on his feet and able to continue.
Brandt put in a hell of a shift here in Austria and he walks off the field lathered in sweat. The 19 year old Bradley Fink comes on.
Edin Terzic's men are finally showing some more urgency this half as they look to reduce the arrears. It's been quite a contrast in performances by the Bundesliga side, who were on top for the last parts of the opening 45 minutes but have been second best after the restart.
BVB allow Villarreal to knock it around just outside the area and Die Schwarzgelben can have no complaints when the ball arrives at the feet of substitute Chukwueze who lifts a fine finish into the corner. Terzic's men were tuned out there.
Moreno cuts inside from the right and thwacks one at the target. The ball drifts over the crossbar. Villarreal have fancied having more of a go at that BVB back three this half and it is Emery's side who look more likely to score the game's next goal at this stage.
It's Villarreal now who are prodding the ball around comfortably. The men in yellow work it into Jackson who has the beating of Meyer and rolls a shot goalwards. Meunier clears off the line for BVB.
Pedraza escapes down the BVB left and gets into an interesting position. The Villarreal sub sends a cross-shot into the danger zone before looking on as the ball fizzes away from goal.
Dortmund get us underway for the second half at the Cashpoint Arena here in Austria.
BVB have dominated in terms of possession and chances, with Reus, Adeyemi and Brandt particularly shining for the Black-and-Yellows in an opening 45 minutes when Villarreal 'keeper Rulli starred. The Bundesliga side were caught on the break on several occasions, however, and Moreno punished them in just that fashion right before the half-time whistle.
One of the worries facing BVB has been the relative ease with which Villarreal have sometimes broken through their high defensive line. It was through just such a move that Unai Emery's side forged ahead before the break, Moreno bursting clear before finishing at the second attempt.
BVB rob possession and the ball makes its way to Adeyemi, who spins and fires low at the target. Yep, you've guessed it, Rulli makes the save.
Back up the other end, Brandt draws one more stop from Rulli. The loose ball reaches Malen whose strike is deflected inches off target thanks to Pau's crucial touch. Top entertainment.
Now that WAS a big chance for Villarreal. With Danjuma running at goal and with time to pick his spot, the Villarreal man appeared to get caught in two minds; he miscontrols and allows Meyer to collect with ease.
Both teams get some deserved refreshment under the hot Austrian sun.
Reus feeds Malen with a wonderful through pass. The Dutch forward strikes first time but Rulli again gets down to beat the ball away. Son afterwards, Brandt has a go at goal from distance but Rulli is there to save, this time holding on.
There's been a little bit of niggle in the 'friendly' so far, no doubt. Villarreal's Gerard hoofs Guerreiro up into the air down by the touchline and the referee says that's enough.
Reus races onto a through ball down the left and looks to control, but Rulli comes racing off his line to welly clear. A crucial intervention from the Spanish custodian there.
Ooooh, that was a big chance for Adeyemi, whose fleet-footed movement saw him make inroads into the Villarreal area. The forward looked to find the corner with a low drive but Rulli was there to divert the shot out for a corner.
A tasty steal from Malen, who robs his opponent and then rolls the ball through his legs to set up an attack. Huge applause from the home crowd. They enjoyed that.
Coach Edin Terzic offers some encouraging applause for his side under the evening Austrian sun. Dortmund look in good shape and have made a mostly positive start to this friendly.
Villarreal break and just as it looks as though Mandi has the run on Süle as the last man, the giant defender sticks out a leg and calmly mops up the danger. Superb defending.
The corner is swung in from the Dortmund right and with Rulli coming and missing with a punch, Schlotterbeck is inches away from making contact and taking advantage of the 'keeper's mistake.
Mats Hummels leads his side out from the back and the ball eventually works its way to Marco Reus whose low shot is blocked by Rulli in the Villarreal goal. Almost the perfect start for BVB.

Tonight will be Borussia's penultimate test before they open their 2022/23 campaign at home to Bayer Leverkusen on 6 August. Edin Terzic's men have so far enjoyed friendly wins against Lüner SV (3-1), Dynamo Dresden (2-0) and SC Verl (5-0) while they most recently went down 3-1 against Valencia. After tonight's Villarreal game, BVB will face Antalyaspor on 30 July.

Recent BVB arrival Nico Schlotterbeck will certainly be one to watch tonight, the defender forming part of a back three alongside fellow new signing Niklas Süle and mainstay Mats Hummels. Here's what the ex-Freiburg man had to say about Dortmund's pre-season so far: "The intensity is brutal, that's normal for pre-season. But I didn't expect that it would be so high. It is almost exclusively internationals here. But it's a lot of fun to test yourself against the best."
This game arrives too soon for BVB's USMNT star Gio Reyna, who continues to work on his comeback from a muscular injury. Also absent for the Black-and-Yellows tonight is new signing Sebastien Haller, with the forward currently undergoing a recovery process having recently been diagnosed with an illness.

New Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic has promised to ease Reyna back to action following the 19-year-old's injury-hit campaign in 2021/22, so there's no sign of him in his side's fifth-pre-season test. The Villarreal game is Dortmund's second friendly of the week in Altach against Spanish opposition, with Marco Reus getting a consolation goal in Monday's 3-1 loss against Valencia. The club have been rocked by the news that new striker Sebastien Haller is set for a spell for a sidelines through illness, with Terzic since revealing that he was informed of the setback just before their last game. Football was difficult to concentrate on as a result, but the Dortmund coach nonetheless said his team had taken "a lot of lessons" from the Valencia encounter. Villarreal will represent a similar challenge, so summer signings Nico Schlotterbeck and Karim Adeyemi get further chances to integrate after their first outing for Dortmund on Monday.
UEFA Europa League winners in 2020/21 and UEFA Champions League semi-finalists last season, Villarreal got their first win of pre-season against PSV Eindhoven last week. Unai Emery's team, who finished seventh in Spain last term, won 2-1 thanks to goals from youngsters Yeremy Pino and Nicolas Jackson. There's a familiar face in their squad in the form of forward Paco Alcacer, who moved from Dortmund to Villarreal two years ago, but Danjuma was their top goalscorer last season with 16 in all competitions. The Dutch attacker starts in attack again with wily Spain international Gerard Moreno, while the Yellow Submarine should be strong at the back with the likes of the rugged Raul Albiol and Pau Torres. Villarreal have also recently added 39-year-old former Bayern Munich goalkeeper Pepe Reina to their ranks.
