American youngster Chris Richards has been named in Bayern Munich's 27-man UEFA Champions League squad alongside summer signings Douglas Costa and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, but there is no room for Tanguy Nianzou.
Defending champions Bayern sealed their second continental treble in August, Kingsley Coman heading them to a 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Lisbon.

Hansi Flick has named a strong squad as he goes in pursuit of a defence of that title, with Richards joining summer arrivals Costa and Choupo-Moting and cornerstones of the team like captain Manuel Neuer and top scorer Robert Lewandowski in the squad.
Richards had an impressive first Bundesliga start for Bayern against Hertha Berlin on Matchday 3, with one assist which might have been two had Thomas Müller not been offside.

A number of young players join Richards in the selection, with Malik Tillman, Jamal Musiala and Bright Arrey-Mbi also making the step up after winning the 3. Liga with Bayern's reserves under current Hoffenheim coach Sebastian Hoeneß last season.
Nianzou - who has two games in the competition under his belt from his time with PSG - injured his thigh in pre-season so misses out, as does fellow summer arrival Tiago Dantas, who was a UEFA Youth League runner up with Benfica last term.
