Borussia Dortmund have agreed to sell USA international Christian Pulisic to English Premier League side Chelsea, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
As part of the €64million deal, Pulisic, 20, will spend the remainder of the 2018/19 season on loan at Dortmund before moving to London in the summer.
"Christian is a fantastic character," said Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc in an official club statement. "I've got no doubt he'll give everything in the coming months to help the team achieve its objectives.
"It was always Christian's dream to play in the Premier League. That certainly has to do with his American background, and as a result we were unable to extend his contract. That along with him being out of contract [in summer 2020] is why we decided to accept Chelsea's extremely lucrative offer."
Pulisic joined Dortmund as a 16-year-old in February 2015, and went on to make his Bundesliga debut less than a year later, aged just 17 years and 133 days.
He later became: the youngest American to play in UEFA competition; the fourth-youngest goalscorer in Bundesliga history, and the youngest ever with two goals to his name; the USA's youngest ever goalscorer; Dortmund's youngest UEFA Champions League player and the youngest American to feature in the competition; the youngest American to win a major European trophy (DFB Cup); and the youngest player to be named USA Men's Soccer Player of the Year.
Since making his professional debut in January 2016, Pulisic has made 115 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund, scoring 15 goals and registering 24 assists. He is a 23-time USA international.
