Borussia Mönchengladbach have appointed former Norwich City boss Daniel Farke as their new head coach.

Farke succeeds Adi Hütter, who was relieved of his duties after just one season in charge of the Foals.

“In Daniel Farke, we have been able to sign a coach that fits perfectly to the path that we want to go down as a club,” said sporting director Roland Virkus. “We are looking forward to tackling the challenges that lie ahead of us, together with him.”

Farke will embark on his first season in the Bundesliga, having previously managed Borussia Dortmund's reserve team in Germany's fourth tier – the same level he reached in six years with Lippstadt, whom he guided to two promotions from the sixth division.

After leaving Dortmund in 2017, Farke joined Norwich in England's second division, the Championship, and he guided the Canaries to 14th. At the end of his second season in charge, Farke guided Norwich into the Premier League as league champions.

Although relegated immediately, Farke remained with the club and guided them back up to English football's top flight at the first time of asking, earning him the award as Manager of the Season.

After being relieved of his duties in September 2021, Farke found employment in Russia with Krasnodar only to leave in March following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
