Harry Kane set a new record for goals scored in a debut Bundesliga season as he struck his 31st of the campaign in Bayern Munich's come-from-behind 5-2 win at Darmstadt.

The match began in predictable fashion as Bayern immediately asserted their dominance. Leroy Sané had the first shot early on, giving the home side a taste of what was to come, before Jamal Musiala danced through the defence to tee up Joshua Kimmich for an effort that was well saved. However, Darmstadt let Thomas Tuchel's side know they would not have things all their own way when Matthias Honsak drew a brilliant save from Manuel Neuer with a thumping drive from near the penalty spot. Honsak was involved again when the hosts took the lead against the run of play, dribbling past two defenders and flicking the ball to Tim Skarke to slot in low past Neuer. Their lead was short-lived though, with Musiala equalising following a determined run from Aleksandar Pavlović and Kane completing the turnaround with his record-setting goal on the stroke of half-time, heading in from Kimmich's cross. Oscar Vilhelmsson hit the crossbar seconds later as Darmstadt almost restored parity before the break.
The second half was a stop-start affair initially, with each side losing a player to injury. However, it then turned into the Musiala show as the 21-year-old gave Bayern some breathing room with a goal arguably only he could score. Receiving the ball on the right-hand edge of the Darmstadt penalty area, he dribbled and twisted his way past four defenders and smashed the ball in off goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen. The youngster was at it again a short while later, holding off his marker and threading a pass through the home defence for substitute Serge Gnabry to finish. Musiala went close to completing his hat-trick with a skillful dink over Schuhen that hit the top of the crossbar, with Kane injuring himself by clattering into the post as he tried to turn in the rebound. Sebastian Polter hit the post in the closing stages with Darmstadt's most dangerous chance of the half, but it was Bayern who scored next, Mathys Tel smashing in from close range. Vilhelmsson pulled a goal back for Darmstadt deep into stoppage time with a deft flick but it was ultimately of little consequence as the defending champions kept the pressure on Bayer Leverkusen in the title race.
