Kohr sets new red card record
Mainz defender Dominik Kohr set an unwanted Bundesliga record on Matchday 11 by receiving the ninth red card of his career, meaning he has now been sent off in Germany's top flight more than any other player in history.
Kohr received his marching orders in the 88th minute of Mainz's 1-1 draw at home to Hoffenheim on Friday night following a VAR review of his late challenge on Max Moerstedt.
It was the 31-year-old's third straight red card overall, forming part of the total nine times he he has been dismissed in the Bundesliga. Six of those have been as a Mainz player; nobody else in the club's history has ever been shown more than three red cards.
This latest incident means he is now the league's outright bad boy, overtaking Luiz Gustavo and Jens Nowotny, who both ended their careers with eight sendings off.

He becomes the fourth Mainz player to be sent off in the Bundesliga in 2025/26, a league-high shared with Hamburg.
To make matters worse for Bo Henriksen's side, playmaker and key midfielder Nadiem Amiri received his fifth yellow card of the campaign against Hoffenheim, meaning he is also suspended for the team's trip to Freiburg next week.
