Bayern's unbeaten start ended by clinical Frankfurt

Bayern Munich's unbeaten start to the Bundesliga season was unceremoniously ended by a clinical Eintracht Frankfurt performance on Matchday 14.

Frankfurt 5-1 Bayern
Goals: 1-0
Marmoush 12' (assist: Chaïbi), 2-0 Dina Ebimbe 31' (assist: Knauff), 3-0 Larsson 36' (assist: Marmoush), 3-1 Kimmich 44' (assist: Sané), 4-1 Dina Ebimbe 50' (assist: Chaïbi), 5-1 Knauff 60' (assist: Marmoush)

Frankfurt were unrecognisable from the team that lost to 3. Liga's Saarbrücken in the DFB Cup in midweek, with Ansgar Knauff firing into the side netting inside the opening 60 seconds. Éric Dina Ebimbe had a goal-bound shot blocked, before Omar Marmoush pounced to give Eintracht a deserved lead after Faris Chaïbi's effort had cannoned back off the crossbar. Harry Kane slipped an effort wide in a rare moment of promise for a rusty Bayern team, whose last fixture was called off due to inclement weather. Dina Ebimbe took full advantage with a sneaky finish at Manuel Neuer's near post, with Hugo Larsson adding a quick-fire third following a mistake by Dayot Upamecano. Dina Ebimbe made a goal-saving challenge in front of Kane as Bayern showed sigs of waking from their slumber, but there was no stopping Joshua Kimmich's 18-yard riposte on the stroke of half-time.

Bayern's hopes of a turnaround were quashed when Dina Ebimbe capped a fine breakaway with his second of the contest shortly after the restart. Kevin Trapp made a superb block at the feet of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in a pulsating passage of play that culminated in a fifth Frankfurt goal. Knauff supplied the finish following a smart interchange between ex-Bayern man Mario Götze and Marmoush, with the strike allowed to stand following a VAR review for a possible offside. Upamecano headed a promising opening wide to sum up a forgettable shift at the office for the record champions, while Trapp foiled Kane from range. If the result was not bad effort, Bayern could yet find themselves six points behind Bayer Leverkusen if the Bundesliga leaders win away to third-placed VfB Stuttgart on Sunday. Dino Toppmöller's Frankfurt are guaranteed to end the weekend in seventh.
