Randal Kolo Muani's 13th goal of the season helped Eintracht Frankfurt come back to claim a draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach after Jonas Hofmann had given the visitors a first-half lead.
Frankfurt 1-1 Gladbach
Goals: 0-1 Hofmann 13' (assist: Thuram), 1-1 Kolo Muani 83' (assist: Alidou)
The Eagles were nursing clipped wings as a result of a run of six games without a win prior to the arrival of a Gladbach side that downed Wolfsburg last time out. The visitors had Marcus Thuram as goalscorer and assist provider in that aforementioned victory on Matchday 27 and when the France forward bounded free down the left in the early stages at Deutsche Bank Park, Eintracht sensed trouble. Returning to the starting line-up, Hofmann's decision to run with his teammate paid dividends when Thruam squared to the Gladbach captain who had the easiest of finishes into an empty net. Die Adler then suffered a further setback when Kristijan Jakic was forced out through injury, although Djibril Sow tried to lift home spirts with a deflected shot that Jonas Omlin brilliantly clawed away. The Foals' goalkeeper was involved again later in the half when gratefully holding onto Kolo Muani's scuffed effort from close range.
With Gladbach unbeaten in their previous four visits to Frankfurt, the hosts knew they needed to step up their efforts after the break as they sought to pull level. Kolo Muani provided the menace that saw Ramy Bensebaini very nearly lift the ball into his own net while Omlin was kept busy when tipping a fierce Eric Dina Ebimbe drive over the top. The introduction of young USMNT attacker Paxten Aaronson helped the hosts to raise the energy further and with Frankfurt now swarming, an equaliser seemed ever-more likely. Buta pulled back for Kolo Muani, whose angled shot to the far corner looked in all the way. The base of the post saved Gladbach, however, while Omlin came to Die Fohlen's rescue to deny Ebimbe on the follow up. With the clock ticking down, the sought-after leveller arrived, and it was Kolo Muani - meeting Faride Alidou's centre - who provided it with a shot that finally left Omlin beaten.
