Eintracht Frankfurt's new attacking midfielder Paxten Aaronson has been called up to the senior USA national team for the first time.

The 19-year-old, who moved to Frankfurt from MLS side Philadelphia Union earlier this month, was nominated by interim head coach Anthony Hudson for the team's January camp, which will be held in Los Angeles, California.

The 24-man squad is largely made up of uncapped youngsters, meaning more established pros such as Borussia Dortmund's Gio Reyna and Borussia Mönchengladbach's Joe Scally, among others, were not included – particularly in light of the upcoming Bundesliga restart.

The team will play international friendlies against Serbia (25 January) and Colombia (28 January).

Aaronson, who hit four goals in 37 MLS appearances before his move to Germany, linked up with his new Frankfurt teammates for the first time at their winter training camp in Dubai. The new Frankfurt No.30 is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Eagles, but did feature in friendlies against RB Leipzig and Lech Poznan.

He has previously been part of the USA national set-up at youth level, hitting seven goals to help his country win the CONCACAF U20 Championship last year, a tournament where he was ended up as both the top scorer and best player.
