Former Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost is returning to the Bundesliga after signing a three-year contract with Eintracht Frankfurt, joining the club from Sporting Lisbon.
"I'm happy to be here and I'm excited for the time to come with Eintracht Frankfurt," Dost told the club’s website on Monday. "I'm a striker that loves to score goals."
The 30-year-old Dutch striker scored 48 goals in 117 appearances for Wolfsburg before moving to Portugal, where he found incredible scoring form in the Liga NOS.
His 93 goals in 127 matches made him one of the most prolific strikers in Europe over the last three seasons.
Dost now returns to the Bundesliga tasked with helping the Eagles to replace Luka Jovic and Sebastien Haller, who both departed the club this summer after fantastic scoring seasons in 2018/19.
"After the departure of Sebastien Haller, it was important for us to find an adequate replacement, which at best even already has a lot of experience and is immediately able to help us," said sporting director Fredi Bobic.
"Bas meets this requirement and knows the Bundesliga. He’s an important building block in our squad with his stature and scoring touch. His scoring rate is very strong and, of course, we want him to be as dangerous in front of goal for us."
Dost could make his debut for Frankfurt on Matchday 3 when Adi Hütter’s side host Fortuna Düsseldorf on Sunday.
