Erling Haaland's record-breaking Bundesliga career in numbers

Erling Haaland has made a record-breaking start to his Bundesliga career with Borussia Dortmund.

Erling Haaland may be the first Bundesliga player ever to become a genuine must-watch spectacle whenever he steps onto the pitch for Borussia Dortmund. As he approaches his 50th Bundesliga appearance, his numbers have proven the spectacle he provides.

bundesilga.com breaks down the record-breaking start Dortmund's teenage forward has made to his top-flight career in Germany.

1: Who said Haaland would need time to adjust to life in Germany? Shortly after joining Dortmund, Haaland became the first and only ever BVB player to score on his debut in the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup and the Champions League. He even scored in his first outing in the DFL Supercup against Bayern Munich.

1: Haaland was the seventh Bundesliga debutant to hit a hat-trick, but he was the first to do so after coming on as a substitute, emerging from the bench after 56 minutes at the WWK Arena.

2: Heard of Walter Bechtold? No, thought not, but he's the only man younger than Haaland - at 19-and-a-half - to claim a Bundesliga hat-trick when he scored three in Eintracht Frankfurt's game with Borussia Neunkirchen in 1965, seven years before even Erling's father Alf-Inge was born!

4: Haaland scored four times against Hertha Berlin on Matchday 8 of the 2020/21 Bundesliga season and, at 20 years and 123 days old, became the youngest player in the league's history to score so many goals in a single game.

5: Haaland followed up his epic Augsburg exploits with a brace in the following game against Cologne, making him the first player in Bundesliga history to score five goals in his opening two games.

7, 8 & 9: He's also the first to score seven times in his first three matches, eight in his opening five and nine in his maiden six games. The only surprise is that he did not score at all in the 4-3 loss to Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 21, which was - ironically - the first full 90 minutes he played in the league.

16: After firing home his 15th and 16th away goals of the 2020/21 season against Wolfsburg, Haaland surpassed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's club record for goals away from home in a single Bundesliga campaign. He fell one short of the league-wide record held by Jupp Heynckes and Timo Werner - which will only spur him on.

23: In the time shorter than it takes most of us to eat our lunch, Haaland scored his first three Bundesliga goals. His 23-minute hat-trick on his debut against Augsburg saw him shoot down Joel Pohjanpalo's relatively pedestrian half-hour to collect his opening three goals for Bayer Leverkusen with time to spare for dessert.

Erling Haaland has gone on to dominate the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund, outscoring his games played overall for the club since his arrival.

30: You can never take your eye off BVB's No.9. Haaland has scored 30 of his 47 Bundesliga goals in the second half of games (17 of them in the final quarter of an hour). Give him an inch, Haaland will take a mile and especially when it can win his side three points.

47: Haaland has scored 47 goals in 48 Bundesliga games, making him the youngest player to score so many in so few games (previous record held by Klaus Fischer).

56: Ex-BVB man Paco Alcacer took 72 minutes to score his first five Bundesliga goals. We all thought that was fast. Until Haaland came along, and smashed that mark out of the park by netting his number five in the win over Cologne on Matchday 19 inside the hour mark.

77: Poor old Paco! Not only does he find Haaland filling his boots and then some at the Signal Iduna Park, he keeps seeing his name rubbed out of Bundesliga history by the Norwegian, too. The Spain international took 81 minutes to net his sixth Bundesliga goal. Guess what? Haaland was four minutes faster.

83: A goal every other game is a good ratio for a forward. Robert Lewandowski, the league's leading scorer and second greatest all-time, has put the ball in the back of the net every 101 minutes in his Bundesliga career. That's out of this world. So, try to stay calm when you learn that Haaland ruffles the onion bag every 83 minutes.
