Borussia Dortmund have strengthened their forward line with the signing of exciting striker Fábio Silva from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 23-year-old Portugal international arrives at the Signal Iduna Park on a five-year deal valid until 30 June 2030 and will offer BVB coach Niko Kovač more options in what is shaping up to be a fearsome attack line.
“Signing with a club like Borussia Dortmund is something very special for me,” said Silva, who will wear the number 21 jersey at his new employers.
“This club has tremendous prestige, not just in Germany but throughout Europe. I know BVB are a passionate club with incredible fans. To now be part of it myself fills me with pride and excitement. I want to settle in quickly, give everything I have, and do my part to help the team be successful.”
Most recently on loan at Spanish La Liga side Las Palmas - where he scored an impressive 10 goals in 24 top-flight appearances - versatile forward Silva is a product of Porto's youth system.
He became the Dragons' youngest ever debutant in 2019 before going on to win a league and cup double with the Portuguese side.
Loan spells at Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven and Rangers followed his switch to Wolves, and Silva was even a KNVB Cup winner during his time in the Netherlands, netting the decisive spot-kick in PSV's shootout victory against Ajax in the 2023 final.
"Fabio brings a lot of quality: goal threat, intensity, pace, and he can be used flexibly in multiple positions," said Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl. "All of this, along with the fact that he is a hard-working, success-driven striker, makes this transfer extremely valuable for us."
Another stand-out moment in Silva's career came last term at Las Palmas, when the striker - whose father and brother were also professional footballers - scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory away to Barcelona.
A senior Portugal international, Silva joins fellow Dortmund forwards Serhou Guirassy, Maximilian Beier, Karim Adeyemi and Julien Duranville as the Black and Yellows get set for a busy campaign in the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and UEFA Champions League.
