Jonathan Tah (Bayern Munich / 9.4m)

The kind of figures that saw the Bundesliga champions pounce for the Germany international centre-back could give your Fantasy team a big haul of points next season too. His passing (2090 successful passes) stood out at Bayer Leverkusen last season, while he was the best in the league for aerial challenges (winning 78 per cent) and won the most challenges overall (67.2 per cent). That makes his price tag of under 10 million a veritable steal!
Maximilian Mittelstädt (VfB Stuttgart / 17.8m)
The Stuttgart full-back's price might not be too modest, but neither is his points potential! He set up 50 shots last season (the most of all defenders) and won 308 challenges (the fifth most), making him a real all-round points machine in the ranks of the DFB Cup winners.

Patrick Mainka (Heidenheim / 7.6m)

If you are looking for a reliable defender that won't break the bank, look no further! Mainka won more challenges than any other defender last season (338). The Heidenheim captain shone both for his tackling ability and presence in the air, winning 71.7 per cent of aerial duels. His price tag looks even more favourable when you compare him to the likes of Diogo Leite (Union Berlin/ 9.2m) and Piero Hincapié (Leverkusen/ 12.1m).
Arthur Theate (Eintracht Frankfurt / 7.9m)

The Belgian defender developed into a key part of Frankfurt's defensive set-up as they stormed into third place last season. He is not only a defensive asset, though, as Theate enjoys getting forward and hit the second most shots of all defenders last term (32). That kind of intent can really lift a player's points total in Fantasy and aid your team in the coming season!
Benedikt Gimber (Heidenheim / 6.2m)
