Host nations named for FIFA World Cup 2030 and 2034
FIFA - world football's governing body - has named the tournament hosts for the FIFA World Cup 2030 and FIFA World Cup 2034.
At the FIFA Extraordinary Congress in Zurich on Wednesday, it was revealed that Morocco, Portugal and Spain will co-host the World Cup in 2030 - the first time in history that three countries have co-hosted the competition.
Furthermore, to mark the centernary edition of the World Cup, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay will each stage one of the opening three games, 100 years after the first World Cup in Uruguay.
The World Cup 2034 will take place in Saudi Arabia. It will be the first 48-team World Cup to be played in one country, with the maiden newly expanded edition of the tournament being held in Canada, Mexico and the United States in 2026.
Four-time world champions Germany will learn their potential path to the World Cup 2026 finals at a European group-stage preliminary draw ceremony in Zurich on Friday (12 CET).
