The fastest players from 24/25

Frankfurt's Jean-Matteo Bahoya became the Bundesliga's new speed king in 2024/25.
Frankfurt's Jean-Matteo Bahoya became the Bundesliga's new speed king in 2024/25.

As expected, Loïs Openda and Gerrit Holtmann are among the top five, but there's a new name topping the speed charts as we list the five fastest players from the 2024/25 season.

1. Jean-Mattéo Bahoya ( Eintracht Frankfurt ), 37.16 km/h

The Frankfurt winger and France youth international became the fastest player ever in the Bundesliga (since data recording began in 2011/12) when he reached a speed of 37.16 km/h to attempt to link-up with Hugo Ekitiké during a counter-attack. The game in question was the Matchday 26 encounter against Bochum, which the Eagles won 3-1 with Bahoya even scoring his very first Bundesliga goal.

2. Loïs Openda ( RB Leipzig ), 36.86 km/h

The Belgian almost always seems a step ahead of the rest when in full stride and during the 24/25 season he scored four of his nine goals during counter-attacking moves, more than any other player in the Bundesliga. The Leipzig striker also hit the woodwork three times while he clocked up an impressive 788 sprints for the campaign.

3. Sirlord Conteh ( 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 ), 36.82 km/h

Try as he might - and Conteh certainly did his best - the Hamburg-born winger just failed to nail down top stop as the quickest player in 2024/25. Heidenheim's super-sub reached the summit of the speed standings on two occasions in the recently-completed campaign: against Augsburg on Matchday 2 and then after reaching a top speed of 36.82 km/h against the champions Bayern Munich on matchday 13.

There are few players quicker than Heidenheim's Sirlord Conteh.

4. Gerrit Holtmann ( Bochum ), 36.74 km/h

Matchday 9 was one to forget for Bochum as they fell to a heavy defeat against an Hugo Ekitiké inspired Eintracht Frankfurt, but Holtmann ended that game having overtaken Conteh as the Bundesliga's fastest player. The 30-year-old's lead at the top would be short lived, however.

5. Oliver Burke ( Union Berlin ), 36.72 km/h

Averaging an impressive 51 sprints per match for former side Werder Bremen during the 24/25 season, it's little wonder that the versatile Scottish forward raced his way into the top five on our list. Adding five goals, 30 shots and 15 crosses to his storming runs, Union Berlin were suitably impressed and moved to snap Burke up ahead of a new campaign.
