Ribery: "Bayern have no fear of Liverpool"

Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery (r.) may get on well with Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp (l.), but the French winger is determined to progress in the UEFA Champions League.

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery says the record German champions have nothing to fear as they prepare to welcome Liverpool to the Allianz Arena in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie.

Bayern impressed in the first leg, picking up a goalless draw at Anfield, and Ribery believes that the Bayern fans can help contribute to another memorable night of European football in Munich this coming Wednesday.

"These games against Liverpool are very important," he told Germany's Bild newspaper. "I'm really motivated. When you play in the Champions League, then it's always a very special feeling; it's a totally different atmosphere.

Franck Ribery has already got his hands on the UEFA Champions League trophy with Bayern Munich, and he sees no reason why he cannot do the same again this June.

"We're in good shape and we're playing at home. Liverpool have a great team, but we are Bayern Munich. We've gained self-confidence from our good performances and we have no fear of Liverpool. When we play and fight for each other, then we can reach the quarter-finals, and then we've got a really good chance."

With fellow wingers Kingsley Coman and Arjen Robben still struggling for fitness, the 35-year-old has every chance of playing a part. "I'm fit and I can play," he said. "The decision is Niko Kovac's, but we've got a great relationship and a lot of faith in each other."
