Frankfurt end Freiburg's home run

Filip Kostic and Jesper Lindstrom scored first-half goals as Eintracht Frankfurt inflicted a first home defeat on Freiburg since March.

Freiburg 0-2 Eintracht Frankfurt
Goals: 0-1 Lindstrom (34'), 0-2 Kostic (43')

Across seasons and stadiums, Freiburg went into the contest unbeaten in 10 Bundesliga matches on their own patch. They survived an early scare when Lindstrom forced a strong save from Mark Flekken, before returning via through Vincenzo Grifo, who headed straight at Kevin Trapp. Lucas Höler got a little more oomph behind Freiburg's next attempt, but again Trapp was equal to the task. The Frankfurt stopper was at it again moments later, batting away a teasing Grifo cross. Frankfurt made their next opening stick as Lindstrom toe-poked beyond Flekken from inside the area. Kostic added a second with a devilish in-swinging free-kick that evaded everyone, before nestling into the bottom corner.

The chances flowed early in the second half as Flekken kept out Rafael Santos Borre and Lindstrom either side of a Höler strike against the frame of the Frankfurt goal. Freiburg were desperately unlucky not to pull a goal back as Tuta cleared Grifo's strike off the line, before Daichi Kamada dragged an effort wide at the other end. Attacking football was the order of the day for the remainder, though both teams were largely restricted to speculative attempts. The one exception was a Christian Günter slap-shot across goal that was hooked off the line with eight minutes left on the clock. Freiburg stay third, despite the setback, while Eintracht climb to 11th.
