Angelo Stiller has received a maiden call-up to the Germany national squad.

Angelo Stiller has been called up to the Germany squad for the first time as Julian Nagelsmann named his squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against Hungary and the Netherlands.

Stiller, 23, who has featured 17 times for the U21s, made 31 Bundesliga appearances in 2023/24 as VfB Stuttgart qualified for the UEFA Champions League. He also has one goal in three games across all competitions this term.

The former Bayern Munich and Hoffenheim midfielder is one of five Stuttgart players included alongside Alexander Nübel, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Chris Führich and Deniz Undav. Borussia Dortmund also have five representatives, while reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen have three.

These are the first international fixtures following the triple retirement of Manuel Neuer, Toni Kroos, Thomas Müller and captain İlkay Gündoğan. Nagelsmann has not yet confirmed who will take over the armband from the ex-Dortmund man, with Joshua Kimmich now the most experienced player as he looks to add to his 91 caps.

The departure of Neuer opens the door for Marc-André ter Stegen, who has had to settle for a back-up/rotational role throughout his international career so far, while Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala will be expected to take up even more integral roles in the absence of playmaker Kroos.

Germany will host Hungary in Düsseldorf on 7 September (kick-off: 8.45pm CEST) before travelling to Amsterdam to face the Dutch three days later (8.45pm CEST).
