Gio Reyna says he senses something special brewing at Borussia Dortmund, and over in Borussia Mönchengladbach for friend and US compatriot Joe Scally.
Reyna, 18, netted Dortmund’s fourth in their 5-2 rout of Eintracht Frankfurt, in their first Bundesliga outing under new head coach Marco Rose.
Backed by some 25,000 fans at the Signal Iduna Park, and inspired by a pair of goals and assists from Erling Haaland, BVB showed how quickly they have absorbed the ideas of the former Borussia Mönchengladbach tactician.

In the eyes of USMNT teenager Reyna, Die Schwarzgelben have every reason to be optimistic in the campaign ahead.
"So far, I think you can see what the coach has done with the team," the former New York City FC talent said in a press conference on Sunday.
"Really energetic, a lot of pressing, really entertaining, fast-paced style that we want to play. We have a great team and players that suit the system he wants to play, and I think yesterday we caught a glimpse of it. We can only improve from now, but it’s been great.
"The team chemistry is on a high right now, it’s the best since I’ve been at Dortmund, in my opinion. I’m sure everybody would say the same thing."

It’s now two competitive wins from two under Rose, following a comfortable 3-0 victory over Wehen Wiesbaden in the DFB Cup first round last weekend.
It sets BVB up perfectly for Tuesday’s DFL Supercup against defending league champions Bayern Munich in Dortmund, a game Reyna is relishing.
"I can’t wait for the game, especially in front of the fans," Reyna enthused.
"The thing that makes it special for us is an opportunity to take down the top team in Germany. They have won the Bundesliga for the last nine years and every time, I’m sure for every team that plays them, it’s an opportunity and they’re going to give it their best game."
While Reyna enjoyed himself on the pitch on the Bundesliga’s opening weekend, he had reason to celebrate off it on Friday as he watched long-time friend and fellow American teen, Scally, make his Bundesliga debut.
Scally helped Gladbach draw 1-1 with Bayern, keeping Leroy Sane at bay from his position at left-back.
Reyna and Scally played in the same youth team back in the States aged 11, and Reyna was nervously watching from home as his old pal seized his chance in the spotlight.
"Yeah, I was so happy for him," Reyna revealed.
"Before the game I got really nervous for him, but in a good way - I thought wow, this is finally his moment. My Mum was here, and I didn’t want her to talk to me during the game, I was focused on him and focused on him doing well.
"It was an amazing moment for him and his family, I couldn’t be happier for him. He deserves it. I’ve known him since I was 10 or 11. Hopefully I can play against him soon this season and we can have some battles, which would be the best."
