Leipzig hit Greuther Fürth for six

Fürth flew out of the blocks and were in front within minutes. Jamie Leweling's attempted cross was blocked, but that created a better angle for a shot, and he beat Peter Gulacsi inside his near post. It was to be nothing more than a false dawn for the Bavarians, though, who conceded an equaliser after a sustained spell of pressure. A typical Angelino cross from the left was met by an equally typical Andre Silva header, and Leipzig were level. The guests edged in front after half an hour when Forsberg's rasping drive from outside the area found its way through Linde's hands, and Konrad Laimer made it three soon after, finishing off a swift counterattack with a neat dink over linde following Nkunku's knock down. Benjamin Henrichs made it four on the stroke of half-time, stretching to meet another teasing Angelino cross at the far post and turn the ball back inside the opposite post.

Simakan supplied the fifth - his first Bundesliga goal - with a header from close range following Forsberg's pin-point free-kick and Fürth's heads dropped further. Nkunku, after setting up two, got his own name on the scoresheet from Forsberg's second assist of the match, a perfectly-weighted pass into the path of the Frenchman which he stroked past Linde with aplomb. Leipzig continued to attack, but with the result already beyond any doubt, they were not as insistent, while the hosts got numbers behind the ball to prevent an even heavier defeat. They managed not to concede any more, but end the weekend seven points from safety with a negative goal difference of -46.

• Andre Silva scored his 50th Bundesliga goal in his 83rd game; he has scored all of his goals from inside the penalty area.
• Forsberg scored his first goal since Matchday 9 – also against Fürth, and also to make it 2-1 – ending a run of 13 games without a goal.
• Heinrichs has three goals and three assists this season, all since Domenico Tedesco took charge.
• Greuther were unbeaten in their six Bundesliga home matches prior to this (W3, D3).
• Nkunku has eight goals in 2022, including six in his last six, and a career-best 15 for the campaign.
• Adams - who was 13 when Fürth were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time back in 2012 - has made 70 Bundesliga appearances to Greuther’s 60.
• Leipzig have never lost a Bundesliga game to a promoted team (W20, D3).
