Heidenheim goalkeeper Kevin Müller had to be carried off on a stretcher following a lengthy period of treatment in his side's relegation six-pointer against Bochum on Friday evening, with the hosts subsequently announcing the 34-year-old had suffered a concussion.

The incident occured in the 50th minute of the Matchday 32 curtain-raiser when Müller clashed heads with Bochum midfielder Ibrahima Sissoko in an aerial collision.

While Sissoko was able to get back on his feet straight away, Müller was left unconscious and after receiving medical treatment on the pitch for over 10 minutes, he was taken away on a stretcher.

The crowd applauded and sung the goalkeeper's name as doctors and paramedics treated him, and he was eventually replaced in goal by Frank Feller.

"[We] would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to the medical staff at the Voith Arena yesterday, as well as to the staff at the Heidenheim Hospital, for their care and treatment," a club statement read, while adding, "The entire FCH family wishes Kevin Müller all the best and a speedy recovery!"
